This is an Evergreen Requisition that is not for a specific opening. Campbell Soup Company is building a database of qualified candidates for future opportunities. These positions open up on a recurring basis, and this database will allow Campbell Soup Company to be proactive in acting quickly on candidate searches.

General Summary:

The individual will be responsible for the development of new product designs from concept to commercialization of innovation, renovation, cost optimization and quality initiatives; and will work with supervision to execute these objectives. The individual must possess a good knowledge base of technical principles and be able to apply that knowledge towards creating new formulations or existing products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Technical and Business teams to identify & define product concepts and establish project objectives.
  • Work with vendors to research new ingredients, product technologies, and/or processes to develop unique and innovative products. Leverage vendor capabilities where appropriate to expand formulation possibilities, drive innovation, and/or increase speed to market.
  • Develop prototypes to support concepts and exploratory work. Reformulate based on consumer direction. Formulate products for scale-up. Conduct trials in the Pilot Plant or manufacturing facility to assess manufacturing capability and consumer acceptability.
  • Interface product design with various nutritional guidelines, cost constraints, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Support development to assess and implement capabilities to drive productivity and growth initiatives in key strategic areas.
  • Work with Process Development and Supply Chain to identify internal or external manufacture needs
  • Develop awareness of industry developments and pursue ingredient, product, or technology advances for application to new and innovative product initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience OR Masters degree in Food Science or related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in commercializing products/processes in the manufacturing environment is desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguity and seek creative solutions.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communications as well as presentation skills required.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, including experience executing timelines that contain primary as well as contingency plans.
  • Demonsrated knowledge of consumer testing methodologies, and experimental design.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to walk or stand up to three-quarters of the work day. Physical ability to handle weights of approximately thirty pounds.
  • Travel required (up to 30% ).
  • WHQ Office, Research Kitchen, Pilot Plant, and Manufacturing Plants (CSC, co-packer, and vendor). The work exposes the employee to heat and hot food products, and requires the use of personal protective equipment.
