Cold Locker Seafood Processing and Storage, is a custom seafood production facility that takes client-owned seafood and provides custom processing services to meet the client's requirements and specifications. Position Overview

The QA Manger Ensures Quality Assurance through continuous inspection, testing and documentation of all tasks related to the processing of fresh and frozen seafood. In addition, the QA Manager is responsible for food safety and quality engineering and control on processes supporting operation, system, policy and procedure auditing.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supports all customer and regulatory audits
  • Works side-by-side with Plant Manager, Supervisors and Leads to assure that compliance to HACCP requirements are met
  • Works as part of the corrective action team to address non-conformities related to product, process and service
  • Executes the required food safety related testing as defined in HACCP plan
  • Manages Quality Engineering projects, including operative supportive functions
  • Leads and monitors improvement projects as assigned
  • Audits implementation of quality system for effectiveness by verifying activities
  • Monitors corrective action system
  • Monitors the accuracy and compliance of HACCP records as defined in the corporate procedures
  • Reinforces quality awareness to the management
  • Manages continuous improvement projects in quality elements
  • Plays a key role in developing a comprehensive quality management system
  • Implements the quality system detailed in the quality manual
  • Drives quality improvement efforts and initiates problem solving efforts and assures implementation
  • Assures prevention vs. detection of defects tracking key performance indicators and daily patrol of production areas
  • Ensures that appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are developed and maintained
  • Coordinates actions to prevent the occurrences of nonconformities to internal, Federal and State laws
  • Maintains customer compliance resolution on defects
  • Responsible for the identifying and maintaining of key performance metrics for the Quality Department
  • Continuously improves plant procedures
  • Plays a key role in training and coaching of quality requirements to all levels in the organization
  • Stays attuned to and prepares adaptation to changes in customer, company and regulatory changes in requirements
  • At times liaises with customers and regulatory agencies
  • Responsible for all customer, state, government and environmental audits to ensure compliance.
  • Implements and maintains a chemical and sanitation program and ensures it meets all federal, state and company standards.
  • Manages the daily activities and task of the sanitation crew

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be results-driven, possess strong leadership abilities, 'hand's-on' and willing to 'dive-in' on multiple projects
  • Complete understanding of the characteristics of all fish and shellfish species prior to harvest, in route to processing, upon arrival and throughout production.
  • Unconditional knowledge of head & gutting, filleting, portioning, sectioning, freezing and packaging of all fish and shellfish.
  • Proficient in knowledge within the guidelines of BRC, HACCP, USDC, and Kosher.
  • Team orientation, which includes the ability to work with individuals at all, levels of the organization.
  • 3+ years successful & proven QA experience (food industry)
  • Ability to lift in excess of 20 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in cool and wet environment * Ability to work in a safe manner with all processing and testing equipment
  • HACCP certification
  • BRC knowledge (preferred)
  • Prior management experience preferred
