In this position you will be the Technical Lead on project teams to deliver on-time commercialization of Product/Process Innovation & Renovation (I&R) projects in coordination with internal/external functional groups. Contributes to and/or manages Nestle Product Development and Introduction (NPDI) projects, supports co-manufacturers and marketing teams on projects and initiatives related to product, process and technologies. Delivers ingredient / recipe / process knowledge to meet internal and external compliance requirements. This position will be filled at Scientist or Sr. Scientist level depending on experience and education.

Primary Responsibilities:
Execute innovation and renovation strategy for Consumer Care in the Market
• Implement/execute technical product development activities at co-manufacturing locations to achieve project goals and deadlines
• Collaborate as the technical lead internally and externally (marketing, technical and production, R&D, raw material suppliers, etc.) in a team environment to develop, industrialize, and launch new products, quality improvements, compliance, and productivity cost savings
• Be the technical expert to marketing during concept and briefing phase of projects
• Conduct pilot plant/ plant trials and first production runs. Responsibilities include drafting plant trial instructions, raw material qualification coordination and coordinating stability studies (including nutrient, flavor and physical stability)
• Participate in cross-functional project teams
• Lead market acceptance / product evaluation of first industrial productions (industrial trials / FOC / SOC)
• Work with Ingredient Specialists and MRM to establish QA specifications for new products and ingredients
• Help solve problems on-site if issues arise
• Organizeassist with new formsprocedures
• Ensure regulatory validation, technical trial, and first production follow-ups are completed

Continuous improvement / optimization of current products within co-manufacturing locations
• Act as technical lead / manage projects and initiatives related to products, processes, suppliers, etc. Includes cost reductions, optimization of manufacturing parameters, supplier development, specification optimization, GREAT, etc.
• Develop, approve, maintain, and sustain the product and process standards and specifications
• Partner with Procurement to ensure supply of raw materials by qualifying new vendors when necessary
• Explore opportunities to harmonize ingredient usage across co-manufacturers and business units

Support QA in developing responses and corrective action exercises to ingredient / process / package crisis related questions, with consideration of corporate policies and consumer needs

Continuous improvement of technical skills and personal development, while expanding internal and external networks
• Keep current in scientific discipline and grow expertise
• Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors, cross-functional partners, and co-manufacturers

Support co-manufacturers with technical assistance
• Serves as technical support to designated / assigned co-manufacturing sites, accountable for product, process and recipe maintenance adhering to all Nestle standards.
• Technical liaison between market's cross-functional team and co-manufacturers as well as R&D centers
• Other duties as required

Qualifications

 Experience and Education:
• BS degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other scientific discipline. Masters level an asset.
• Position requires approximately 25% travel, but there may be extended travel on key projects / startups.
• 5-7 years’ experience in development and manufacturing of food and nutrition products, food processing, aseptic, and thermal processing
• Factory experience, QA/QC, or R&D experience is a plus
• Proven track record in delivering results through others while maintaining aggressive timelines
o Ability to work in a fast paced and high performing environment with minimal direct supervision
o Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and assignments
o Must have strong communication skills: interpersonal, persuasion/ consensus building skills, presentation, oral and written communication
o Highly motivated, critical thinker, detail and goal oriented and easily adapts to change
• Good understanding of statistics, FDA regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices
• Experience with specification systems is preferred (in particular, CAT, Devex, SAP-RM)
• Experience with Microsoft Office products is essential
• Understanding of project management and the product development process is required
