Quality Assurance Coordinator

Summary/Objective

The QA Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting the QA Manager with compliance of Company Quality Assurance standards. They are responsible for implementing quality and food safety programs, validating HARPC and HACCP plans, maintaining adherence to good manufacturing procedures, standard operating procedures pertaining to quality and sanitation standard operating procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Implement new quality programs (sanitary maintenance, audit analysis) to meet company quality standards and the plant goals of improving quality and reducing customer complaints
  • Participate in regulatory audits and perform acting QA Manager duties during QA Managers absence
  • Perform plant floor duties including but not limited to quality audit inspection record keeping, product sample collection/ analysis, HACCP updating/compliance/ auditing, collecting quality related information from floor operators and ensuring compliance with quality standard operating procedures
  • HACCP or other regulatory quality system(s) compliance. Data collection, procedure development and record keeping. Dealing with regulatory and plant personnel ensuring ongoing compliance
  • Analyze data, create reports and communicate results to management ensuring employees understand ongoing quality issues and production results. Post production information and discussion of quality related root cause and solutions. Document current risks and process improvement goals
  • Inspect and evaluate procedures and processes for food safety and quality.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. A portion of the work may be performed in the plant where the noise level may be loud and the employee may be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however the employee is often required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a Full Time position with occasional overtime. Coordinator must be able to work weekends during the busy season. There may be different schedules required at different times during the calendar year. Typically, these shifts include, but are not limited to:

5:00am - 1:30pm

8:00am - 4:30pm

1:30pm - 10:00pm

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 Years QA Experience in Food Manufacturing Industry
  • HACCP Certification

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelorís Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field
  • Multi-lingual (Spanish is a plus)
