POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs regulatory compliance activities related to US and applicable global foods regulation compliance. Manage food labeling for USA plant made products. Provide technical information to customer's technical inquiries. It also provides support to other activities in the Technical Services function as needed. This position is in a fast-paced environment of changing priorities, multiple projects and short deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide regulatory supports, technical supports for customers, and other functions.
  • Investigate regulatory compliance for US and applicable global countries, including but not limit to formulation, ingredients, process, product claims, marketing and advisement claims including but not limit to kosher, organic, non-GMO, etc.
  • Contact and communicate with regulatory government agencies, trade organizations, and consultant parties for compliance including but not limit to USDA, FDA, CFIA products and labels registration, etc.
  • Support the process of creating, reviewing, updating, and approving product labels including but not limit to nutrition labeling, allergens labeling, product claims.
  • Provide technical support to meet import and export requirement including but not limit to import/export permits, certificates, and NAFTA, etc.
  • Monitor local, state, federal, and other applicable global regulatory updates.
  • Develop and maintain DeVex product lifecycle management system data including but not limit to raw material specification, raw material data sheet, finished good specification, formula specification, and labeling specification.
  • Provide responses to customer's technical inquires.
  • Perform special projects and duties as assigned from management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in food science, biology, chemistry, or a related life science field; and a minimum of 5 years related research and development in foods or consumer products ; and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of food safety regulations is required (FSMA, FDA, USDA, CFR (Code of Federal Regulation, Canadian Food Inspection regulation, FTC). Knowledge of food package and equipments, thermal process, and strong PC skills are preferred. Experience of product life cycle management system is also preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ideal candidate must be able to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions. Draft memos and correspondence with ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to government agencies, trade organizations, customers, clients, and other employees of the org
