Director of Quality Assurance and Food Safety
Exceptional opportunity in Quality Assurance/Food
Safety leadership with a leading SQF Certified food manufacturer operating
in a USDA approved facility. We are a full line food processor specializing
in fresh salads, cooked deli meats and prepared foods. Our products are
sold to retail stores, service delis, club stores and food service
operators. We are seeking a plant level Director of Quality Assurance and
Food Safety in Haverhill, MA.
- Lead the team, managing all
quality systems and food safety programs at the plant level.
- Manage the day to day
activities of QA/QC associates, ensuring that quality standards and
food safety controls are maintained at mandated levels to achieve
- Guide QA/QC technicians in
the procedures and methods used to inspect, monitor and audit
processes and products.
- Ensure the effective
execution of all quality and food safety programs on first and second
shift, with personnel oversight of the second shift operations as
- Monitor third shift
sanitation operations to ensure compliance with SOP guidelines,
including periodic oversight.
- Oversee the compliant
labeling and nutritional data program.
- Maintain and utilize data in
a predictive and proactive manner, identifying and reporting trends
that impact Quality/Food safety.
- Communicate with members of
management on a regular basis to report quality data and receive
feedback to provide the best quality product possible.
- Assist in ensuring plant
production meets or exceeds USDA, HACPP, GFSI (BRC), GMP, Food
Defense, Allergen requirements.
- Compile and interpret Micro
and bacteria test data and other inspection and audit procedures to
ensure compliance with all food safety regulatory requirements.
- Handle USDA/FSIS
communications, internal and customer required audits, root cause
analysis, HACCP conformance and all other regulatory area.
- .Lead or participate in
programs related to the global food safety initiatives, SQF
certification as assigned.
- Be a subject matter expert
and problem solver: acting as a liaison in Quality/Food Safety
communications with internal departments including R&D, sales and
engineering, as well as production management, production personnel,
maintenance, sanitation and others.
- Enforce al Food Safety
controls, managing all hold actions, managing adverse events and other
necessary processes to ensure the quality, safety and legality of
products and ensure compliance with USDA/FSIS requirements.
- Ensure effective development
and communications with all QA/QC team members, through coaching and
training in procedures, protocol and policy and other communications
to enhance Quality/FS systems and programs in the plant.
- BS/MS in food science, animal
science, food process technologies, microbiology or related area.
- 10 years
experience in Quality Assurance/Food Safety in a USDA plant.
- In depth knowledge of
USDA/FSIS regulations, HACCP, SSOP and GMP requirements.
- 5+ years managing a group of
10+ QA/QC team members.
- A comprehensive understanding
of the accreditation requirements and the renewal process.
- Excellent communication,
presentation and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work
effectively in a stressful, deadline driven environment.
- Bi-lingual – English/Spanish
– a plus.
- Experience with Global Food
Safety and Quality programs.
- Experience using Food Safety
Labeling software and nutritional labeling programs.
