Purpose of the job

To consistently develop new and innovative products in support of the mission and continued growth of the company.

This role contributes to product development bringing new concepts through commercialization.  Essential to have technical expertise to determine product specifications, dosage delivery, formulation and scale-up to bring new dietary supplements products in the market.

  • Works cross-departmentally (Marketing, Ops, Finance, DSM Legal, Regulatory Affairs, etc.) to execute the project plan for all new products and reformulations, providing support throughout the product launch.
  • Requires knowledge of the Quality and Regulatory standards and environment to ensure that all developed formulations and packaging meet the defined product concepts and standards.
  • Held to strict time and financial targets in working to reformulate products and develop new products in line with our mission and values.

 

The Position

Responsible for product development, scale-up and technical transfer activities primarily related to dietary supplements category.

These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work proactively and independently across multiple projects
  • Explore and provide technical assessment on new technologies related to dosage delivery formats. Highly experienced in performing a wide range of formulations of multiple pharmaceutical dosage forms
  • Write effective technical documents including research reports for Product Development initiatives
  • Support manufacture of supplies for clinical, stability and other studies
  • Development of new products utilizing technologies beyond the company’s current competencies.
  • Works cross-functionally (i-Health and DSM) and with outside vendors and contract manufactures to execute the product plan for all reformulations and new products.
  • Stays up-to-date on product ingredients, innovative forms, new manufacturing techniques, and quality and regulatory guidelines to provide best-in-class new product launches.

 

The Ideal

Knowledge and educational level

  • BS/MS degree preferably in a technical science (Nutrition, Food Science, pharmaceutical and chemical engineering)
  • Minimum 4 years of Product and Process development experience in dietary supplements, nutrition, pharmaceutical, or consumer packaged foods industry
  • Excellent knowledge of GMPs, GLPs, ICH, CFR, latest regulatory trends and global regulation as appropriate
  • Ability to organize R&D projects involving definition of scope, selection of problems for investigation, and generation of execution plan

 

Required level of experiences

  • Proven experience in stage gate product development process including experiences with externally sourced or co-development projects.
  • Highly experienced with different materials/ingredients, manufacturing processes, packaging designs, and other factors in the developmental process
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional groups in execution of multiple projects in flawless manner is desired.

 

Proven skills in the following areas:

  • Highly experienced within required functional area (e.g. product development, process development, process validation/technical transfer)
  • Actively seeks to innovate and apply new methodology and/or technology
  • Work independently and creatively to accomplish tasks as well as in cross-functional settings
  • Ability to write effective technical documents including research reports and SOPs.
  • Solves practical problems and carry out responsibilities with limited supervision
  • Other requirements include self-motivation, high level of creativity, handling complexity, excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills, and leadership skills.
