Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager

Position Summary
Managing the food safety and quality programs used at California Olive Ranch and their Co-Packers. Main responsibilities include updating procedures, managing Quality Assurance staff, maintain compliance with SQF code and other regulatory bodies, program audits, and ensure quality control on bottling line.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and implement the SQF code procedures and document control. Conduct SQF Practitioner responsibilities for maintaining the Food Safety and Quality Manual.
  • Create, maintain, and monitor employee training in food safety procedures: Foreign Material Program, HACCP, Food Safety and Quality Procedure, Safety Procedures, and Allergen Control Procedure.
  • Review of QA technician documents and management of QA employees on bottling line.
  • Execute 3rd party and customer audits of facility.
  • Create and maintain all QA programs and procedures.
  • Create, maintain, and monitor all product specifications and customer requested documentation.
  • Maintain and execute process for the following but not limited to; vendor sample product evaluations, first production runs, samples, facility audits, internal audits, water testing, and corrective actions.
  • Aid with data and sample collection and data review studies from production bottling line and milling.
  • Working closely with production, sanitation, and maintenance for any quality issues, evaluations or concerns.
  • Ensure Operations staff compliance with FDA and SQF code and regulations includes but not limited to: ingredient and Label receiving program (canola and flavorings) and ensure product quality is maintained on the bottling line, foreign material, water sampling, and monthly GMP and Facility audits along with the Food Safety Coordinator and Production.
  • Maintain continuing education and knowledge base of food regulations, innovation in food industry, and packaging materials as it relates to COR.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to work extended hours throughout the year and flexibility on schedule during October-December for harvest season. Willing to work all shifts as necessary.
  • Manage details of multiple projects in an efficient and organized method.
  • Must have proficient computer skills with Microsoft applications; word, excel, outlook.


  • SQF Practitioner Certified or experience with GFSI (SQF, BRC, FSC) systems
  • HACCP Certified or a strong knowledge of HACCP based systems
  • 4 year College degree preferred in Food Science or related field
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role in the food industry
  • Valid California Driver’s License
