Food Safety Coordinator

Great opportunity for a Food Safety professional; we are looking for someone with experience in HACCP and knowledge of SQF to handle administrative duties related to Quality Assurance.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position works under a USDA/FDA regulated environment reporting to the Chief Executive Office in the Administration Department. The environment is hot/cold, refrigerated and production based. This position is responsible in supporting all production and administrative needs. Additionally, the Food Safety Coordinator is accountable for ensuring that production and office staff are supported in the in the completion and execution of work in a timely manner. This person will work mandatory overtime as needed and perform principle administration roles and responsibilities of support duties for the organization.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration Support

Ensures that supplies are ordered, shipped and arrived on time prior to inventory/supply shortfalls.

Ensures the completion of a variety of office duties according to customersí orders or instructions of management, following approved procedures.

Provides admin support in areas of production and QA such as printing labels, reports, and reviewing schedules.

Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas.

Determine the service of meals to include size, weight, labeling and packaging.

Oversees the preparation, request and approve of officially regulated documents

Enable effective communications between management and operators.

Maintain a clean and safe work place in accordance with regulatory protocol.

Perm all related duties and assigned or as the situation dictates

Interact with immediate supervisor by describing potential safety issues in performing your job and identifying responsibilities and required training as part of your development plan.

Expectations :
In performing your job you will adhere to Company, USDA, FDA, OSHA, local, state, and federal standards involving environmental safety and health issues. You must be familiar with policies and practices in your work area, including knowledge of emergency preparedness plans, use of personal protective equipment, and participation in relevant training programs specific to your activities and those where you provide guidance (if any).

You are responsible for ongoing evaluation of safety practices and procedures on equipment assigned to you and to assist in periodic inspection, self-assessment, and corrective actions.

You will provide day to day support on activities within your identified work area and equipment, and assure that HACCP and practices relevant to those activities, such as General Manufacturing Practices (GMPís), are effectively implemented to protect the quality of food.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential

Have at least 2-years experience as an Administrator/Office Assistant in a manufacturing or related environment.

Be able to work in a fast paced high-volume production environment

Ability to work alternate shifts, early morning and weekends, including mandatory overtime as required.

Ability to understand FDA, USDA and other regulating agencies compliance as it pertains to preparing, requesting and approving official company documents.

Posses a can-do attitude and be able and willing to take direction.

Maintains work areas in a sanitized and orderly manner in compliance with our regulations

Ability to communicate with supervisor regarding work assignments/safety issues.

Ability to read, write and speak basic English/Spanish.

Essential Physical Requirements

Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, work at heights, work in confined spaces, and around plant equipment in hot and cold temperatures.

Ability to work in refrigerated environments for over (8) hours in a day

Ability to work in a freezer environment for short durations of time

Ability to work in a fragranced environment

Preferred

Knowledge of Food Safety Practices, Safety Programs and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).

SQF Certified

Knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices (GMPís).

Knowledge of labeling and nutritional contents as it pertains to FDA and USDA.

California Driverís License preferred

Completion of Safe Serve or Food Safety training and prior use of applicable Protective Clothing.
