Scheduled 8 hour shifts M-F between 7am and 6:30 pm, limited responsibility on some weekends


Primary Objective of the Role
Plan, prepare, and execute, sensory panels for external and internal panelists, this includes but is not limited to preparing samples, administering tests, preparing documentation and recording results



·         Applies sensory evaluation methodologies to organize and execute consumer and trained panels

·         Participates/manages in the execution phase of testing, including, but not limited to, product procurement, statistical test design, consumer questionnaire development, panelist scheduling, and panel scheduling

·         Assists in laboratory environment and helps maintain laboratory equipment

·         Uses basic statistical analysis and scientific methods to prepare sensory projects Maintains accurate records of panelist attendance, testing anomalies, and additional project details for future use

·         Impacts the quality of work done by other technical people

·         Maintains a strong focus on customer service in order to effectively communicate and interact with panelists

·         Additional project and research as business requires



·         Bachelor's degree is required

o    Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Computer Science or related scientific discipline preferred

·         Sensory training (either academic or industry experience) preferred



·         2-5 years of work experience in the Food Industry or equivalent academic program

·         Familiarity with sensory evaluation test design and execution (affective and descriptive analysis techniques) preferred

·         Familiarity with principles of Sensory Evaluation, experimental design and data analysis preferred



·         Demonstrated project management and leadership skills

·         Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

·         Detail oriented and ability to multi-task in a busy business environment

·         Ability to be proficient working on a team and individually

·         Solid statistical background and problem solving skills

·         Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

·         Demonstrated ability to interface and communicate with levels internally and externally

·         Strong computer skills, including Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office

·         Experience with sensory software a plus
