We are currently seeking aPart Time/ Hourly Food Scientist.This position is located in Crystal City, VA.

Potential option to work from if located outside Crystal City area.


Our Analytics Group provides technical, analytical and program management support to a wide variety of government clients. The qualified candidate will provide food science-related technical and analytical support to the group’s current and future projects. These projects support the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. Candidate responsibilities include supporting major projects and tasks that are related to food science and food defense. Specifically, the candidate will perform analysis of complex problems that may require a high degree of abstract thinking, creativity, and the use of modeling, statistical, and other analytical techniques. The candidate will work as a member of a project team and will lead independent project tasks. The candidate will interact with directly with clients and subject matter experts, and will prepare written technical reports and briefings. Candidate will also contribute to business development planning activities including preparing and presenting proposals.


B.S. in Food Science or related field is required.

A minimum of 8-10 years of experience performing technical, analytical work related to food industry practices, public health and food safety / food defense, and food industry vulnerability assessments

Must possess proven technical, writing, communications, and research skills.

Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), and standard modeling and statistical software applications

Sole US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain (TOP SECRET) DoD clearance.


Experience with Carver Plus Shock risk assessment methods and knowledge of the Food Safety Modernization Act are preferred.

M.S. in Food Science or related field is required.
