Salary:

Annual salary will be between $64,728 - $77,256 depending on qualifications. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary and will be based on transaction type and the provisions of the State Compensation Plan. Pay band 81-02. Career Executive. A two-year Career Executive Trial Period may be required upon appointment.

Occasional travel for meetings is required. A criminal background check will be completed prior to any offer of employment.

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) employs a diverse mix of people in the service of the State of Wisconsin. Job Duties:   Under general direction of the Division Administrator, serve as a member of the management team and participate in strategic planning, setting overall policies, and assisting with decision-making processes which affect operations as well as division and department goals.  The position plans, consults, and provides personnel management and coordination of the fiscal operations for the division.  This position serves as a back-up to the Administrator and provides support in the administration of a current budget of $17.2 million consisting of federal and state programs.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

 

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of program management and policy analysis; this includes the ability to manage program work plans.

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of budget development and management; work may also include fee analysis and grant research activities.

 

  • Thorough knowledge of personnel management and supervisory practices (e.g., hiring, discipline, grievance processing, performance evaluation, training, AA/CRC, etc.).

 

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and techniques of oral and written communication, including effective report writing and interpersonal skills.

 

  • Knowledge of research techniques, data collection, and effective data analysis.

 

  • Considerable knowledge of resource allocation (e.g., staffing needs, equipment, monetary resources, etc.) to meet program needs and objectives.

 

  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
