Cargill Turkey and Cooked Meats has an exciting opportunity available for an R & D Technician II, located in Wichita, KS. The purpose of this position is to support the Research and Development teams by conducting research projects in the facility, understanding customer needs and participating in facility tasks and Pilot Plant operations. This position has a primary designation to one team, but collaboration with other R&D teams is required.


Typical duties include assembly/ disassembly of equipment, logging in raw materials, maintaining HACCP logs, processing meat products, shipping samples and maintaining plant and facility cleanliness/orderliness. In addition, non-routine tasks are included such as product preparation in the kitchen, submission of lab samples, and conducting shelf life testing.


Principal Accountabilities:


40%    Perform processing and operational duties for respective team, including understanding of customer needs.


30%    Assist other technicians with processing and operational duties for their respective teams


10%    Conduct facility tasks (maintaining/stocking areas of facility, pre-op/operational sanitation checks, supply ordering/ inventory management)


10%   Participate in conduction of employee training and provide input on plant procedures (operational, safety and food safety) for effectiveness and implementation


10%   Conduct other duties as required





·         Requires work in cold environment (40˚ F)

·         Must be able to lift 50 lbs

·         High School Diploma or equivelant

·         1 year meat processing experience

·         Effective Communication Skills

·         Strong Team Orientation

·         Basic Computer knowledge including MS Office


·         BS in Food Science, Meat Science or related field

·         Previous Product Development experience

·         Meat processing skills (formulation, cutting)
