Foods USA is seeking a quality assurance advisor. This position is
responsible for supporting Regional Quality Managers, Plant QA managers, and
quality / food safety systems in 10 production facilities, various
co-manufacturer sites, and the Corporate QA department. This position assures
the proper testing documentation, specifications, and record retention of
laboratory data related to product safety, product quality, facility
productivity and corporate reporting.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage an annual update of all
Corporate Food Safety, Quality and Laboratory Policies/Procedures.
Assist the Corporate QA team and plants by creating an effective change
management system for policy/procedural changes.
- Create a trending report for
the Environmental Monitoring Program, and transfer results into
presentation materials for use in the biweekly Food Safety call.
- Assist the Food Safety Managers
in microbiological validation projects in the plants and at Vendor laboratories.
- Work with Regional Quality
Managers regarding environmental trends and a follow up.
- Support the Lab System Database
Infinity QS system. Aid in the input and set up of testing requirements,
new products and specification ranges for products within the system.
Align information with other documentation and systems within the SDFUSA
- Aid in the update and approval
of new policies and procedures.
- Support the administrative
aspects of supplier quality such as new supplier approval process,
supplier databases, supplier incidents, etc.
- Assist in completion of
customer document requests and interact with various functions to gather
information (R&D, procurement, operations, etc.)
- Provide technical support to
plant and corporate QA related to resolution of issues or improvement of
processes related to product testing, product quality and food safety.
- All other duties as assigned by
any member of the Quality Assurance department.
- Education - BS in Biology or
Food Science (MS degree in microbiology would be strongly
- Experience- An understanding of
information systems and general QA lab testing methods and product
requirements is a plus. Minimum 2 years of experience with a major
CPG company would be strongly preferred.

- Physical Demands-Requires
prolonged sitting and standing, bending, stooping and climbing. Requires
eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a
keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and laboratory equipment.
Requires normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to
record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and laboratory
results. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires exposure to
machines, chemicals and solvents.
- Work Environment-Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react
favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and
flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Emotional stability and
personal maturity are important attributes in this position. Must be
able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions
under pressure. Ability to give, receive and
analyze information, formulate work plans and prepare written materials
and articulate goals and action plans. Must understand people and be
able to communicate effectively. Ability to do simple math calculations,
input data into a computer and analyze data is required.
