Job Summary (Purpose): Direct and supervise all Quality Assurance activities for the Company. Advises management team on compliance with FDA, Company and customer standards in regards to food quality and food safety.

Duties & Responsibilities (Major):

  • Major focus on GMP compliance and employee practices particularly on the off shifts.
  • Writes policies and procedures regarding food safety and food quality.
  • Analyze facts and circumstances regarding non-complying product. Consult with and advise management as to corrective measures.
  • Make recommendations as to procedures, standards and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.
  • Assist in outside agency audits, communicate with external customers as needed.
  • Make recommendations as to hiring, promotions and employment terminations.
  • Assisting in assuring that employees follow all food safety, legal, quality, process control policies and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience (Minimum Required):
Four year degree in preferred; education and experience combination will be considered. Two years supervisory experience and 5 years experience in Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Desired):
Knowledge of industry audit standards, HACCP and GMP. Excellent documentation skills. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Ability to interpret technical requirements and documents. Independent thinker, keen analytical ability with above average math and problem-solving skills. Understanding of standard lab procedures, microbial and aseptic technique knowledge.

Physical Demands (Typical):

  • Standing for extended periods
  • Stooping, twisting, bending and kneeling occasionally.
  • Close visual work on PC, determine detail, able to distinguish colors
  • Able to wear required PPE
  • Work extended shifts and weekends as needed.
  • Climb to various levels in the facility using ladders

Work Environment (Typical):

  • Plant office; air conditioned and heated
  • Plant production areas; including inside and outside the plant; not air conditioned. Uneven walking surfaces.
  • May be exposed to dust, rotating equipment, hot surfaces, sub-freezing and cold storage areas, noise, wet floors and moving lift equipment.

Required experience:

  • Two years supervisory experience and 5 years experience in Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing: 5 years

  • Bachelor's
