Role Priorities:

1. Setting and monitoring compliance with Inventure Foods quality standards and facility cleanliness expectations.
2. Developing and fine-tuning procedures needed for audit compliance.
3. Defining clear, executable quality and housekeeping standards and determining how progress will be measured.
4. Associate management, training, development and mentoring. Creating a quality- driven culture based on scientific interpretation of data and personal experience.
5. Maintaining appropriate records relating to product quality.
6. Maintaining the current SQF Level 3 certifications.

Role Qualifications:

1. Must partner with functional organizations to align quality and housekeeping programs with company expectations and objectives.
2. Must execute the fundamentals and accept 100% accountability for achieving quality and sanitation goals by consistently managing performance and raising the bar.
3. Must partner with production area to ensure that, with appropriate influence, issues regarding quality or sanitation are resolved in a timely manner.
4. Must respond immediately to deviations that may affect Customer or Consumer satisfaction or pose a liability to the Company and take appropriate corrective action.

Position Responsibilities:

q Monitors the activities of the Quality Assurance Associates and makes recommendations appropriately to the sampling, testing, and analysis of all in-bound materials, in-process product and finished products to ensure compliance with food laws, food safety programs, and Company standards of quality.
q Must be able to demonstrate and lead Good Manufacturing Practices, define and follow company policies related to chemical use, and support Quality and Food Safety initiatives including, auditing, inspections, sampling, analysis, reporting, data management, trouble shooting, and product / process improvement.
q Ensures that all specification manuals for raw, finished, and packing materials are current and complete with the company insignia. Maintains manuals regarding sanitation in current status.
q Establishes performance and program objectives for staff to ensure reliability and validity of tests; maintains accurate and timely reports/logs of test results including lot numbers on all incoming raw and packaging material.
q Advises on and assists in determining disposition of “held” product not meeting quality parameters’ reviews audit samples of “held” product with production management and ensures substandard product is not packed or shipped.
q Maintains and periodically reviews manuals for standard lab procedures.
q Initiates programs with outside vendors as needed to control pest issues inside or outside of the Plant.
q Identifies and oversees training of backup Quality Assurance Associates to ensure appropriate coverage during all production periods.
q Coordinates mock recall systems to test and refine local programs; establishes and maintains procedures, policies and records relating to test inspections.
q Maintains accurate and up-to-date sanitation/housekeeping records in compliance with all local, state and federal authorities.
q Develops and administers department budgets. Recommend equipment and supplies needed to meet quality and sanitation goals.
q Identifies and outlines key accountabilities for the weekly production cleanup activities ensuring maximum efficiency. Defines cleaning procedures, materials required, safety compliance and time frames.
q Develops programs and procedures in line with audit goals.
q Prepares and participates in audits relating to Department of Health and/or outside auditors, if applicable.
q Monitors state and federal legislative calendars to remain updated on pending legislation that may affect the company.
q Work closely with production and other departments, vendors and or consultants to determine root cause of quality issues as they arise and participate in problem solving.
q Maintain well organized, detailed and progressive records. Manage and organize production documentation.
q Support new product start ups by working closely with production and R&D.
q Ability to work well with all levels of personnel individually and in a team environment and the ability to interface and communicate with production line associates, customers, regulatory agencies and executives.
q Be engaged in running the day-to-day business by demonstrating leadership beyond normal / baseline job responsibilities that improve business results. Lead team or business improvement meetings.

q Five plus years packaged consumer goods experience and specific experience in the frozen food / frozen fruit area. Proven leadership and experience in a Quality Assurance/Sanitation environment. Minimum 5 years direct supervisory experience.
q Solid background in microbiology particularly with high risk foods

q Ability to develop an organization through proven leadership, supervising, coaching and mentoring.

q Excellent interpersonal communication skills combined with appropriate influence.

q Knowledge of Best Practices in Quality Assurance and Sanitation including HACCP.

q Significant experience in a deadline driven environment (i.e., production deadlines, shipping deadlines, customer response deadlines).

q Ability to “understand the big picture” and “think outside the box”.

q Experience with high performance teams and a strong team player.

q SQF Certification.

q Strong commitment to company values.

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

q Knowledge of Food Safety Programs and Best Practices in Quality and Sanitation programs.
Education Requirements:

q College degree or proven equivalent experience.

q Continuing education and training in Quality related topics.
