QUALITY ASSURANCE AND FOOD SAFETY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

 

Monogram Food Solutions is a Privately held manufacturer and marketer of corn dogs, bacon, beef and bacon jerky, got dogs sausages, pet snacks, and other processed products. With the Company headquartered in Memphis, TN, Monogram operates seven plants employing over 2,000 team members. We are looking for undergrad students to work in the Bacon Industry this summer. Monogramís goals are to grow our own leaders and managers through hands on meat/food production settings. We have internship opportunities in the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Department and in the Operations/Production Department.  This is a summer internship with approximate dates of employment of May 15th to August 15th, 2016-depending upon schools schedules.

Internship Summary

To strive for quality products and processes which consistently meet product specification requirements and customer expectations; monitor and maintain compliance with USDA regulations and requirements; consistently implement requirements set forth for maintaining the highest standard of food safety for products and services.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement Quality Assurance and regulatory procedures according to established guidelines
  • Provide guidance, counsel and recommendations to employees within Operations regarding good manufacturing practices, product specifications, food safety
  • Obtain and maintain accurate records to determine consistency of product quality, compliance to regulatory agency requirements and documentation of HACCP
  • Perform analytical analysis on product produced within the plant
  •  Learn how to maintain accurate lab records and verify accuracy of testing samples, learn to submit samples and interpret results
  • Furnish appropriate accurate verbal and/or written reports to the Quality department and plant management regarding product/process quality and consistency, research test, process capabilities, USDA situations, HACCP
  • Interact daily with sanitation management,  Food Safety and Quality Assurance /operations supervisors and employees
  • Be committed on a daily basis to routine Quality department requirements

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

Currently pursuing a degree in Food/Meat Science or related field

Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to use MS Excel and MS Word

Ability to effectively communicate

Rudimentary knowledge of pathogens-Listeria, salmonella, e-coli

Basic knowledge of HACCP, SOPíS and GMPíS
