Quality Control Technician -Food Manufacturing

JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
The Quality Assurance Technician will ensure compliance with all company, customer and regulatory quality requirements by monitoring, coordinating and documenting quality activities. Responsible for assuring that safe and quality foods are produced by performing all quality control tests and tasks in accordance with the company’s standards. The QA Tech is responsible for recording test results, taking appropriate actions when production and/or quality issues arise, and maintaining an accurate log of daily activities. The QA Tech must also work with other departments and management with quality issues, and be knowledgeable of Cornfields products, texture, taste, color, and ingredients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform daily quality checks as required to ensure all company, customer and regulatory specifications and requirements are met
· Maintain documentation to meet SQF, HACCP and customer requirements
· Inspection of raw materials, packaging components, in-process and finished product to defined specifications
· Monitor Pre-Op and Operational Sanitation compliance and record information/deviations as necessary, including notification of Quality and Production Management
· Work with production to correct out of specification product
· Monitor GMP’s for compliance
· Complete deviations/hold documentation for out of specification material
· Inspect raw materials for proper specifications, codes, lot numbers and dates including information necessary for lot tracing
· Maintain weight control documentation for finished product and give feedback for adjustment to maintain target weights
· Perform metal detector checks to ensure proper operation of detectors
· Ensure implementation of quality assurance and other company standards throughout production, receiving and shipping
· Maintain documents according to company requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Education

  • High School diploma or GED required

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years quality experience in the food industry
  • Experience with 3rd party food safety audits, preferred
  • Experience with GMP’s and understanding of HACCP principles
