Guest Services is hiring a Food Safety Specialist due to growth to work in the Northern, VA area.

The Food Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring unit(s) comply with federal and state food safety and overall sanitation regulations; is also responsible for training and developing managers, so they can maintain the unit(s) under their scope of responsibility in compliance with such laws.


Administer the Companyís Food Safety and Quality ensuring the highest level of accountability and value for customers and stakeholders. Oversee the implementation of cleaning and sanitation programs in food service environments. Stay advised on regulatory compliance pertaining to food safety and facility sanitation and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Develop quality systems to include: SSOP's, HACCP, and GMP's to ensure compliance with applicable state, FDA, and USDA regulations. Prioritize issues and lead resolution activities to drive sustainable change.

Inspect and audit unit(s), verifying compliance with state and federal sanitation regulations. Collect data in a scientific manner, utilizing appropriate statistical methodologies.

Oversee routine microbiological testing of product and process. Develop and implement traceback and recall program.

Oversee and implement food safety polices and procedures training of staff. Establish perpetual education philosophy and practices throughout the company as it relates to Food safety and Quality systems.

Serve as a technical expert to resolve food establishment closures/crisis related to Health Department inspections.

Develop and assist in the administration of food safety, facility sanitation, weights, measures and pricing accuracy policies, compliance audits as well as SOPs (across all divisions).

Serve as customer liaison and coordinator for all Quality and Food safety relations.

Provide innovative and strategic ideas to support company growth. Plan and implement all activities, products and services in a manner designed to reduce the adverse environmental, social, and economic impacts and incorporates commitments to continuous improvement, and efficient use of natural resources and sustainable practices.


Bachelorís Degree in Science required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable

A minimum of three to five years of related food processing or fresh cut produce experience. At least one year of supervisory experience.

Expert knowledge of SSOPís, HACCP, GMPís, and USDA. Must be familiar with microbiological requirements and testing and implementing a trace and recall program.

Must demonstrate proficient PC skills.

Must demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Experience working with relational databases, statistical programs, and other tools to compile and interpret quantitative data.

Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people; ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities; ability to learn and develop new skills; ability to problem solve.

Ability to work independently, with a significant degree of creativity and latitude.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to travel up locally and nationally to units on a regular basis.

Reading and writing work-related documents in English.

Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.

Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees.

Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 10 lbs. rarely, up to 30 lbs. seldom.
