Job Description

Purpose of Position:
This position will support the North America fresh-cut, whole produce, and protein-based facilities. In this role, the New Product Development Technician (NPD) will manage product specification programs and special projects, which includes developing new and/or improving products, processes, and packaging.

 

Accountabilities:

     Create specifications and manage database.

     Organize and manage evaluations for shelf life, sensory tests, and product presentations.

     Make product samples for shelf life trials, sales and marketing, and custome presentations.

     Receive and maintain ingredients and packaging samples in orderly manner.

     Maintain all NPD environments clean and organized.

     Support production tasks related to product and packaging samples, process testing, shelf life trials, customer visits, and scale-up runs.

     Pack and ship products and/or packaging samples.

     Analyze competitors' products.

     Support and assist Research and Development Department, when required.

 

Minimum Skills Required:

     4 year College Degree (Food Science/Live Science or related field), from an accredited institution and/or equivalent job experience.

     At least 2 years prior experience in a food or similar lab environment.

     Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and SharePoint applications. 

     Knowledge of basic lab equipment (i.e. scale, thermometer, pH meter) and scientific principles.

     Strong time/task management skills in a fast-paced/changing environment, as well as interpersonal and communication skills (i.e. oral and written).

     Must be detail-oriented, willing to take initiative and able to work independently (or within teams) with minimal supervision.

     Must be able to climb stairs and lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

     Must be able to work in a production area which includes noise, moving equipment, sharp utensils, wet and cold (<40 degrees) environment for extended periods of time (8+ hours).

 

Preferred but not Essential:

     Proficiency in Genesis Nutrition program.

     Bi-lingual: Spanish and English.
