Position reports to the Manager of Regulatory Affairs         

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The purpose of this position is to provide technical support in the area of food safety and guidance in FDA and USDA label compliance regulations. The individual will generate nutritional facts panels and ingredient statements for all B&G products.  The individual must be capable of reviewing and validating the integrity of the label claim script; such as health, kosher, organic claims.   The individual must ensure the products are not misbranded in anyway.  The person must be capable of developing reports, spreadsheets and presentations using various computer programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point.  

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.Maintain Genesis nutritional data base and enter raw materials and formulas.

2.Review and validate label declaration information; such as nutritional facts panels, ingredient statements, health claims, kosher, organic certification and allergen requirements. (Label proofing)

3.Researching federal regulations and agency requirements

4.Stay abreast of FDA and USDA label laws

5.Ensure label regulations are followed 

6.Provide technical support to Marketing, Procurement, and other departments for label related questions

7.Stay current with regulatory alerts regarding misbranding issues 

8.Provide assistance from a Regulatory Compliance standpoint with new product development and reformulation

9.Generate data files and spreadsheets for various customers 

10.Interface with vendors, suppliers, outside labs and consultants 

 

DECISION-MAKING/ RECOMMENDATION RESPONSIBILITES

1.Develop Nutrition Facts Panels and Ingredient statements

2.Research, determine and implement which Federal label regulations are appropriate

3.Ensure labels are compliant with US Code of Federal Regulations Title 21

4.Provide direction to Sales and Marketing and Label Designers regarding label regulations  

5.Stay abreast of heath and dietary regulations and make recommendations to management.   

 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/EDUCATON

1.BS Food Technology, Food Science, Biology or Engineering

2.At least 1 year of Regulatory Affairs experience in the food industry

3.Knowledge of  CFR Title 21

4.Training in fundamental quality assurance technology

5.Very detail-oriented with analytical/problem solving abilities

6.Microsoft Excel/Word expertise
