Job Description:

Research & Development Intern

OFD Foods, Inc develops and manufactures food products for our brands Mountain House® Adventure Meals™, Mountain House Emergency Meals, Mountain House Military, and Easy Meal®. We also manufacture food products for private labels and offer freeze drying contract services. Mountain House Adventure Meals™ are the #1 selling camping food in North America.

This position will assist Food Scientists in the development of freeze dried food products. This Intern will assist at various stages of the product development process from concept to development.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities / Assignments:

  • Design, Conduct Summer Intern Project, report data, findings results and conclusions in written and oral form.
  • Assist Food Scientists and Technologists in research and experimentation on food and food products in laboratories, pilot pants and production areas.
  • Assist in sensory testing, set up data collection, and results analysis.
  • Test food and food products to determine physical and chemical characteristics within the R&D and manufacturing settings.
  • Work with Food Scientist to schedule and carry out shelf life testing.
  • Assist in recording/compiling test results and preparing graphs, charts, or reports.
  • Ensure food products are fit for distribution within OFD sample protocol.
  • Maintain laboratory environment and equipment.
  • All other tasks as assigned by Manager of Research and Development.

Requirements:

Food Science background required.

Hours of Work:

Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shift (typically starting between 6:30 and 8:00am).

Duration:

Beginning June 1, 2016, lasting approximately 3 months.
