The Plant Manager is responsible to coordinate and oversee all manufacturing and converting operations at the Tillamook plant. This position provides the vision, leadership, and coaching needed to develop and maintain the competencies, performance, and collaboration of departmental employees in production, engineering, and quality assurance.  Direct supervision for Cheese, Ice Cream, Packaging & Whey production departments along with Quality Manager and Engineering Manager.


Ensure the establishment and maintenance of a strong safety culture within the plant and that a safe work environment is maintained for all employees

·         Uncompromising in promoting and following all company safety guidelines

·         Is familiar with the safety requirements of regulatory agencies including OSHA, OR-OSHA

·         Understands local safety plans concerning hazardous chemicals including ammonia (PSM)

·         Insures that an evacuation plan is updated and trained on as prescribed

Develop a manufacturing organization in Tillamook capable of producing desired business results for the production and packaging of premium quality cheese, ice cream, and whey.

·         Provides coaching and mentoring to all direct reports

·         Establishes, monitors, and reviews individual and team performance

·         Accountable for establishing, communicating, and reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing at Tillamook

Establish effective working relationships with all support departments and other Tillamook locations

·         Facilitate and maintain an effective working relationship with QA and engineering

·         Interface and collaborate with multiple departments including sales, supply chain, HR, and finance 

·         Maintain effective communications with other Tillamook manufacturing locations with an eye toward continuous improvement and consistency

 Responsible to develop budget and authorize expenditures within approved department budgets including:

·         Labor (staff count/wages)

·         Department materials/supplies

·         Recommend capital budget needs

Accountable for establishing and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement

·         Provide the time, tools, and training needed for employee development

·         Model the behavior expected from the plant teams

·         Promote, celebrate, and communicate wins

 Ensure compliance with USDA, OSDA, FDA, and other regulatory product safety requirements for dairy products

·         Define and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs)

·         Establish manufacturing quality control point testing and measures

·         Implement plans to correct any problems that are identified, determine where and why the problem occurred, and oversee specific corrective action

·         Review the previous day’s production and laboratory reports for items produced


 Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Business Management; or 5 – 10 years of dairy manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Union Supervisory experience.

 Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.

·         Ability to communicate effectively.

·         Must be computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

·         Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.

·         Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously

·         Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.

Physical Requirements:  Some travel is required. Ablility to work off-shift and weekend hours as needed.

Salary is DOE with excellent benefits. There is relocation assistance for this role.
