Associate Food Scientist Ice Cream

 

Job Summary
This position will have responsibility for supporting product and process development for ice cream leading to new or modified products as well as product maintenance and cost improvement initiatives for the Refreshment category

Key Duties and Responsibilities
An Associate Food Scientist is expected to perform the following work activities as part of cross-functional project teams:

• Develop ice cream products using a variety of resources to bring concepts to life.
• Work closely with technical and cross functional team members on projects.
• Demonstrate ability to analyze technical data, anticipate project next-steps, and evaluate options.
• Gather and submit safety clearance information.
• Develop specifications for new raw materials, formulations, and finished products.
• Participate in scale-ups from lab-scale to pilot –scale to factory with adjustments, as needed, to processes and formulations.
• Manage product transition from development into the supply chain.
• Support supply chain improvement, cost savings, and complexity reduction projects including troubleshooting activities where product knowledge is needed.
• Travel required (10-20%)

Key Requirements
• BS in Food Science or equivalent degree with 0-4 years experience must be fluent in English language (i.e. Verbal & Written)
• Effective oral and written communication/documentation with associates, other departments, and suppliers.
• Highly motivated, self starter and adaptable to learn new technology and processes
• Ability to identify and recommend solutions
• Ability to multi task
• Ability to understand and evaluate the effect of ingredients and processes on finished product attributes.
• Assuming responsibility to carry specific project goals from inception to completion of the project.
• Ability to work under pressure in order to meet defined project timeline.
• Possess Creative thinking
• Understands Risk Management
