Currently seeking someone to Lead the development, execution and monitoring of ongoing Quality Assurance (QA) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs and initiatives to maintain quality standards, SQF Level 2 certification, and applicable food safety & quality regulatory compliance.
Essential Job Functions/Duties: * Lead implementation and ongoing program management/oversight of Safe Quality Foods certification, compliance to Quality Assurance/Food Safety requirements and other related initiatives.* Build successful and collaborative relationships with cross-functional leadership team and tenured, diverse workforce. Form close working relationships with leaders from Production, Sanitation and Maintenance on processes for new and existing products and ingredient changes.* Convey confidence interacting with external service providers and government agencies as the product safety, quality system and regulatory authority in implementing QA & SQF initiatives and operating practices.* Manage development, prioritization, implementation and effectiveness of QA & SQF programs to assure facility meets all quality, product safety, SQF system and regulatory requirements.* Perform daily monitoring activities on SQF programs including verification, validation, audit, recordkeeping, etc. to ensure facility’s continuous compliance with SQF code requirements.* Maintain and ensure all SQF policies, procedures, training manuals and programs, logs, documentations, product specification sheets and records are up to date in meeting SQF Level 2 certification requirements* Conduct regular training and maintain training records on all SQF food safety and quality programs.* Facilitate external audits on SQF recertification and other quality and food safety related third party audits.* Proactively monitor, evaluate and present prioritized plausible solutions to potential food quality or safety issues on new or existing products. Immediately address non-compliance, evaluate and take timely corrective action as necessary.* Be an integral part of the customer complaint process to identify root causes and assist in timely and effective resolutions.* Perform other duties and tasks as assigned in QA & Sanitation Departments; act as back-up to QA Team leaders as needed; liaise with QA Director (position backup) on issues
Job Specifications (KSA’s):
* B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology/Biology, Chemistry or demonstrated proficiency, plus at least 2 years related experience in a food manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.* SQF Practitioner Certification preferred* Experience in QA management, preferably in a food manufacturing environment preferred* Experience in developing, training and implementing quality and food safety initiatives including SQF, HACCP, GMP’s and sanitation procedures preferred* Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, governmental regulations and other related documents* Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals* Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from various audiences* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations* Ability to define and prioritize problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with abstract and concrete variables.* Ability to work independently and be self-motivated* Ability to work and communicate effectively with all areas of the operation* Ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and priorities* Ability to balance technical and practical aspects of food safety and quality
Physical Demands/Work Environment: * Manufacturing environment with frequent walking/standing for extended periods of time* Walking, standing, bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling 10 pounds occasionally* Flexible work hours (multi-shift operation)* Varied temperature environment (hot/cold)
