Quality Assurance Manager

Summary of Responsibilities:

The QA Manager is responsible for all food safety and quality assurance activity in a food processing facility. We are looking for a dynamic leader that can effect change and build upon current systems. This position is responsible for developing and overseeing a solid team and providing guidance for elevated food safety standards by implementing and enforcing food safety and security procedures through programs such as SQF, HACCP and GMP’s. This position requires a significant knowledge of various generally recognized quality programs and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership experience is needed to inspire employees to be quality champions through critical thinking, problem solving and innovative solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures highly disciplined compliance with all regulatory and Company defined food safety and sanitation standards, systems, procedures, and practices to ensure that the highest quality products are produced
  • Possesses a “hands on” management style
  • Completes “out of compliance” investigations, makes recommendations to resolve issues, including complaint trend investigations
  • Oversees, directs, and manages Quality Assurance function to ensure highly disciplined compliance with all product and process quality parameters and standards including formulations specifications, approved methods, procedures, practices and systems
  • Develops, implements, and sustains new methods and procedures to drive improvements in quality and food safety
  • Current HACCP knowledge and capability to plan, control, and document safe food processes consistent with USDA and FDA guidelines.
  • Be able to provide quality instruction and support for implementing and managing SQF food safety and quality systems.
  • Interacts with regulatory agencies, customers and 3rd party auditors.
  • Monitoring, documenting and reporting on finished product specifications to measure compliance with company standards.
  • Manages QA personnel in performing quality checks of raw, work in process, and finished product through inspections
  • Conducts internal facility inspections
  • Works with manufacturing and other team members to ensure facility processes and systems are in compliance to quality and food safety requirements
  • Manages departmental activity to comply with all applicable safety laws and regulations as well as Company safety policies, procedures and standards
  • Works with R&D, Sales & Operations on the operational implementation of all regulatory compliance, process and specification changes and new product introductions.


  • Excellent communication skills-written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Must be proficient with computer and appropriate software
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge (hands-on experience) with SQF Food Safety and Quality Systems
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in food quality assurance
  • Strong Team Management experience
  • Sense of urgency and ownership regarding role and the needs of the department
  • Experience with food safety GMP, HAACP and SOPs)
