Quality Assurance Manager

The primary goal of this position is to ensure that all products leaving SJF Inc. intended for consumption are safe and wholesome. The QA Manager works with Production, Shipping, Maintenance, Sanitation, upper management and customers to implement SJFs Food Safety Management System.

Summary of essential job functions

  • The QA Manager is responsible for setting the quality assurance policy and managing SJFs Food Safety Management System.
  • The QA Manager is responsible for maintaining SJFs SQF certification and coordinating with all of SJFs different departments to ensure continued adherence to the SQF code.
  • The QA Manager oversees the QA Department and works with production to ensure that product specifications are met while meeting standards and regulations set by customers, government agencies and SJF.
  • The QA Manager is responsible for coordinating customer complaint response, investigating quality and food safety issues, identifying the root cause of the issues and working with management to address the issues root causes.
  • The QA Manager is responsible for the documentation system and for making adjustments and amendments to the system.
  • The QA Manager monitors quality trends and reviews food safety and quality documentation.
  • The QA Manager arranges training and conducts training for food safety subjects, including GMPs, Organic Compliance, CCP adherence, and continuing education.
  • The QA Manager is the SQF Practitioner, the Document Control Coordinator, the lead of the HACCP team and works with management in R&D and specification development.
  • The QA Manager communicates with organic certifying agencies, government officials, the DFA, and customers to ensure that the company complies with all regulations and requirements.

Minimum requirements

  • Four Year Degree or equivalent, preferably in a food science related field.
  • English and Math skills.
  • 5 years of previous experience in a food processing and/or manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of experience in management.
  • Experience with interpreting policy from GFSI accreditation schemes, HACCP, FSMA
  • Management skills such as critical thinking, communicating effectively with employees, the ability to work independently to research solutions, good writing skills (for policy and customer correspondence), root cause analysis experience and running R&D projects.
