JOB DESCRIPTION: PRODUCTION QUALITY CONTROL SPECIALIST

Excellent opportunity to work in a great team environment at a state of the art, modern food manufacturing facility performing quality control in a high speed manufacturing environment. Use of the most current QC systems and procedures in the industry. Ideal location - easy commute from Sacramento or Davis to Woodland, CA.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Maintaining the intended quality of food. Keep our promises to consumers.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to keep things moving by anticipating upcoming needs
  • Ability to multitask and to function productively in a manufacturing setting overseeing multiple production lines
  • Ability to enter data correctly into company computer system, use scanner gun and laptop & desktop computers
  • Attention to detail & ability to ensure that unit codes, case codes, packaging, weights and ingredients are all correct
  • Ability to train production team members on quality and safety procedures
  • Ability to be good with people and to effectively train them on use of scanner gun for correct lot training information
  • Must know how to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and to enter data into computer system & to accurately perform mathematical calculations
  • Allergen Management
  • Pre-Operation, Operational and Post Operation Sanitation Quality Control Checks
  • Metal detection testing
  • Ability to trouble shot and calibrate metal detector and other equipment
  • Proper weight checks. Hourly sample retention and evaluation
  • Good Manufacturing Procedures Checks
  • Check weighing, blending and finished goods for quality and lot documentation
  • Ability to use scanner and computer and to have all documentation complete in a timely manner
  • Training Workers on Lot & Quality Documentation Using scanners and Quality Assurance Computer System
  • Printing & Verifying Tracing Information Entered by Production Team Members into Scanners Is Correct
  • Cook up food samples for sensory testing
  • Perform Water Activity Testing on Finished Goods
  • Ensure products are blended correctly prior to the production run.
  • Ensure ingredients and packaging meet specifications
  • Using bar code system, ensure that allergens are stored according to procedures, document lot numbers on product ingredients, monitoring the allergen storage space.
  • Monitoring all of the production lines before and during the production runs.
  • Training Team Members on Food and Worker Safety.
  • Verifying Tracing lot # documentation pre-production and code, seal checks. Packaging material and component per production verification checks.
  • Swab for potential allergens (i.e. gluten) or cross contamination using a test strip kit.
  • Ensuring all packaging materials are removed from area prior to new materials being brought into area.
  • Test food contact hoppers for gluten pre production if running gluten free and no allergen contamination
  • Use the state-of-the art quality system to instantaneously input data from QA monitoring.
  • Cook up products and perform testing including sensory testing, including taste, smell, appearance, etc. to insure high quality of finished goods and supplier conformance to specifications.
  • Verify thoroughness of cleaning and swab test
  • Send out Finished Goods samples for outside lab testing. Store extra retained samples
  • Work with Inventory Control Specialist to ensure accurate inventory and proper facility storage

Qualifications: A passion for food safety, great food and excellence are required. Ability to manage work flow and attention to detail. Ability to manage sanitation and Master Sanitation Schedule. BS degree in Food Science preferred and or Plant Experience and Strong Attention to Detail and strong computer and math skills. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and time management skills are required. Computer skills are required: Excel, Word, Company ERP computer software.
