Markonís Food Safety Coordinator is an essential member of our Food Safety Department and helps ensure compliance with audits and the effective management of related regulatory paperwork. This position requires the ability to exhibit independence, flexibility and good judgment to respond to rapidly changing priorities. The Food Safety Coordinator reviews food safety alerts on a continual basis, forwarding to management, as appropriate and conducts mock recalls with suppliers and responds to customer complaints.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains the Markon Food Safety Audit tracking and database for brand and baseline suppliers, requesting audits and appropriate food safety documentation as necessary and following up to ensure correct actions are implemented
  • Prepares correspondence related to corrective actions, audit compliance, timelines for required activities, product quality complaints, etc.
  • Maintains Certificates of Liability within set deadlines
  • Maintains Food Safety files and paperwork
  • Ensures proper trace-back information is in place for suppliers
  • Collects and approves initial audit information for potential suppliers
  • Prepares new supplier packets for prospective new suppliers
  • Conducts mock recalls with suppliers
  • Monitors food safety alerts on an ongoing and regular basis and forwards to management, as appropriate
  • Issues timely communications to membership on food safety information, updates and recalls; tracks updates on all food-related outbreaks

Minimum Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out the job duties; typically includes expertise in the field of agriculture and/or food safety
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook, databases and Google docs with the ability to quickly learn specific software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems independently and with sound judgment
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness and d≠ependability
  • Ability to be detail oriented, flexible, organized, creative, independent enthusiastic, dependable and driven by excellence
  • Establishes and maintains effective channels of communications with internal and external contacts
  • Adjusts tasks and focus in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities

Desirable Qualifications

  • AA or Bachelorís degree highly desirable
  • At least one year of administrative experience
  • Previous Food Safety experience
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary and benefits package. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Employer subsidized health, vision and dental insurance effective on the first of the month following hire. PTO accrual and paid holidays from date of hire.
