JOB DESCRIPTION:

Enforce overall company food quality and safety requirements.  Develops common direction and emphasized customer satisfaction.  This position reports directly to the Director of Quality and Compliance.

 

JOB DUTIES:

Compliance: 40%

• Conduct food safety and facility audits, and formulate action plans

• Provide support for food service venues concerning safety, quality and regulations

• Act as liaison for Hissho Sushi with local, state and federal health safety officials

• Guide new vendors through vendor approval process

• Develop quality assurance programs for company operations as needed

• Conduct food storage, preparation and food safety training for staff on an on-going basis

• Plan and deliver comprehensive training and development programs to meet Hissho

   Sushi’s Quality System

 

Field Quality Inspection:  30%

• Inspect food processing in the field for compliance with government regulations and standards for sanitation, safety, quality, and waste management standards

• Observe and explain proper food handling techniques to field staff

 

Product Development and Improvements:  15%

• Assist in new product testing

• Work with other departments to help coordinate efforts for new product roll outs, and other cross departmental projects

• Establish food quality and food safety standards to help Hissho Sushi be recognized as a 

   Leader in the Industry

 

Training and Supervision:  15%

• Ensure appropriate tracking and reporting tools are in place to maintain quality,

   food safety and effectiveness of our employees and contractors

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Food Science, Quality, or related field

• 1-3 years of experience in food industry

• Ability and flexibility to travel

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels

·   Seafood HACCP experience preferred

·   Previous inspecting experience

·   Previous retail experience
