Unit Description

Responsible to the VP of Field Support & QA for supporting the USMC contract Quality Control and Safety  (food and physical) Programs. Maintains close working relationship with the Local and HQ Client, District Managers, Support Staff, General Managers and Quality Control Coordinators on all contract, quality and safety issues. Ability to objectively enforce required systems and standards while maintaining positive working relationships with those being audited. Maintains liaison with the individual TR’s, COR and other client representatives on project performance and service matters. Ensures corporate and regulatory compliance for the company's quality assurance, physical safety, and food safety initiatives by pro-actively providing technical expertise, training.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and communicate HACCP and food safety standards, policies, procedures, and training materials
  • Provide representation, technical expertise, and guidance to regional operational management, support staff, and client(s) to help resolve food and physical safety emergencies, complaints, or contractual issues
  • Oversee and monitor the mess hall inspections following the Quality Control Program (including food safety and sanitation) for the region
  • Monitor and provide training and technical expertise for Sodexo’s internal, automated, unit-level food safety auditing program
  • Contribute and assist in the development, revision, evaluation and implementation of the Company's quality assurance and food safety policies, procedures, standards and manuals
  • Conduct and review Accident review panels and maintain relationships with workman’s compensation representatives
  • Provides feedback to Operations Managers and Subcontractors on quality control and safety related matters
  • Provide training on appropriate or current food safety issues or concerns at regional or district meetings
  • Provide training, leadership, and direction to client, customers, operational management, regulatory groups, and crisis managers in the event of emergency situations of public health significance (e.g., suspected food-borne illness)
  • Provide technical expertise and training to instructors certified to teach Sodexo’s mandatory ServSafe food safety certification program

Education or Equivalent Experience: BA/BS or In Hospitality, Food Science Technology or related field, or equivalent experience

Supervisory/Managerial Experience: 4-6 years

Function Specific Experience: 2 years experience in a public health or food safety position. 5-7 years experience in a public health or food safety position

Certification Requirements: ServSafe certified

Position Summary

Provides leadership and direction to strategically located crisis managers who assist in the response to emergency situations of public health significance. Provides direction and technical expertise in the company's food safety training initiatives. Oversees and monitors the internal quality assurance/food safety audit process. Provides technical expertise in the development, revision, and implementation of the company's quality assurance and food safety policies, procedures, standards, and manuals.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a food science related field
Basic Management Experience - 4 years
Basic Functional Experience - 4 years of experience in a public health or food safety position with knowledge of food safety regulations & policies (e.g., FDA, CDC); CFSP or RS credential required
