Job Scope           

         Support the development of new products that are designed for the US mainstream market and redesign existing products for cost-savings and quality improvement.

Main Responsibilities

         Develop products from concepts formed at ideation sessions and follow standardized commercialization set-up procedures; execute projects according to business plan timelines

         Improve current products with regard to both cost and quality; submit creative ideas for accomplishing these types of objectives

         Work on mostly sauce-related products; shelf-stable sauce, chilled sauce, component sauce for frozen entrees, soups, cooking sauce, and seasoning for protein items, etc.

         Source new ingredients during the product development process and build vendor relationships

         Prepare bench top prototypes and analyze using a variety of methods available in the R&D test kitchen

         Work in conjunction with Senior Researcher to develop innovative concepts and recipes

         Monitor current market trends via trade journals and competitor market trips to predict future focus

         Prepare product specifications, set-up formulas and write technical reports and test run plans

         Perform consumer sensory testing and shelf-life studies for pre-launch products

         Maintain a clean and organized R&D test kitchen

         Independently conduct plant trials at various production facilities

         Support the Sr. Researcher of US R&D POST in reporting out the US food products and market information and trends to CJ Foods R&D at the Korea Headquarters

Minimum Qualifications      

         Bachelorís Degree and 2 years of experience

                OR

         Associate Degree with 4 years of direct experience;

Preferred Qualifications

         R&D experience in the food industry and culinary background strongly preferred

         Any form of sauce/dressing/soup/seasoning development experience strongly preferred

Physical Requirements

         Excellent communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced knowledge of food science, computer skills that include Word, Excel & PowerPoint

         Driving a rental automobile as needed; walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time; ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on an occasional basis; exposure to manufacturing environments that may include loud noise, heat, cold, wet and slippery conditions

Travel Requirement (%)

         20% travel to affiliate offices, production plants, co-packer facilities and procuring ingredients from the market (may vary depending on schedules).

Working Hours

         9:00 am to 6:00 pm (with 1 hour lunch) are standard; hours will vary during production trials and may include occasional nights and/or weekends.
