The Plant Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of all plant Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Sanitation programs. The incumbent works cross-functionally to assure plant compliance with MOM Brands quality and food safety programs, including reduction and control of product noncompliance, HACCP, sanitation, cGMPs and product quality.  The Plant Quality Assurance Manager also works with Operations on the identification and implementation of quality improvements and with Engineering on the review, identification and implementation of sanitary design principles for buildings and equipment.  The Plant Quality Assurance Manager, under the direction of the Director, Quality & Food Safety, leads Quality and Food Safety (QFS) program and system execution, assuring plant compliance with all MOM Brands Corporate and Regulatory QFS standards and completes all job duties in a manner that fully supports plant safety and environmental requirements and practices.





1.    Assure that all raw materials, process parameters, sanitation procedures, and finished products comply with Customer, Company, State and Federal standards.

2.    Assure that HACCP plans are fully implemented and monitored for all processing lines. Responsible for validating changes to food safety fundamentals (prerequisite programs.)

3.    Coordinate the activities of maintenance, engineers and contractors in complying with GMP’s and the Invasive Work Matrix before, during and after construction and invasive work activities.

4.    Provide managerial and technical leadership to Quality Assurance technicians and other appropriate plant QA staff.

5.    Lead, participate in and fully support plant Continuous Improvement projects and activities.

6.    Provide technical assistance to team members regarding the use of chemicals and proper sanitation protocol. Duties to include the verification of cleaning methods for control of microbial, allergenic, and organic product cross contamination risks.

7.    Manage and audit quality programs and maintain proper documentation.

8.    Administer hold product dispositions. Follow-up and coordinate the release and/or removal of hold product through the proper channels.

9.    Assure the training of team members in the areas of noncompliance, metal detection, GMP’s, HACCP, color code, sanitation procedures, net weight, and sensory attributes.

10. Coordinate the activities of the pest prevention program. Assist in the development of pest prevention schedule. Coordinate the licensing of all pest applicators and/or the person(s) responsible for supervising the contacted pest control service.

11. Direct the implementation, process and follow-up to corrective action items for audits, and inspections by customers or regulatory agencies.

12. Initiate and drive quality and food safety initiatives consistent with annual goals and objectives, using precision leadership skills.

13. Direct the compilation of plant specific data necessary for the rapid identification and retrieval of suspect product involved in a market withdrawal or recall.

14. Responsible for developing, validating, verifying, implementing and maintaining SQF prerequisite, food safety, and food quality systems.

15. Investigate consumer and customer complaints and provide written communication regarding the findings.

16. Collect quality data and develop reports for business units.

17. Provide QA Support to internal and external customers.

18. Other assigned duties as needed.




Minimum of 4 year B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related scientific field.



Minimum of 10 years experience in food manufacturing business, preferably in the Quality Assurance or Production environment.  Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.  Must have and extensive knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, quality systems, and experience working with and leading teams in a manufacturing environment.  Must possess a thorough understanding of FDA, state and local regulatory requirements.



Effective management and supervisory skills.  Must have excellent facilitating skills in a team environment, and effective communication skills, both written and oral.  Training skills with ability to develop own curriculum.  Must be a demonstrated problem solver with the ability to implement effective solutions.  Working knowledge of statistical and other advanced analytical problem solving tools.  Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language.





Internal – Work with Corporate Quality & Food Safety management, peers at other manufacturing locations, Operations Managers, Production Line Manager, Process Engineering, Product Excellence and Innovation, Purchasing, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Corporate Engineering, and Production Team Members.
