This position is responsible for supporting the Innovation Center team through developing and producing customer samples for review in the pilot plant. This role will help develop protocols and training to ensure safety, food safety, and environmental compliance for the Innovation Center.


This position requires an organized individual with exceptional verbal and written communication skills capable of independent decision making.

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

40% Product Development and Assistance

  • Coordinate with the team in the Innovation Center to develop and produce customer samples.
  • Schedule and coordinate the production of the pilot plant.


25% Program Development and Implementation

  • Create, develop and conduct training programs for the Innovation Center pilot plant.  This will include areas such as safety, food safety and environmental compliance.
  • This information is necessary for establishing government guidelines as well as marketing and sales to obtain new customers while maintaining current accounts.

20% HACCP and USDA

  • Develop and maintain a HACCP plan.
  • Maintain USDA compliance for inspections.

5%  Misc Duties

  • Complete and maintain proper documentation for the entire Innovation Center.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Food Science or related field from four-year College or university and 0 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Database software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; QMS system and SAP.
  • Knowledge of meat and meat processing.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of data management and technical writing.
  • Understand fresh and processed meats.
  • Able to work and make decisions on tasks independently.
  • Must be able to prioritize competing demands on time and resources.
  • Ability to creatively integrate multiple information streams into comprehensive & understandable whole.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10-20% of the time. Additional travel during initial training period.
