 Under limited supervision, this position will focus on the development of prototypes and new products and will require an innovative approach to product development. This position will support and assist the R&D Food Scientists and Culinary Professionals. This position will also be responsible for the creation of both bench top and scale-up production of samples for internal, customer, and consumer tests. Responsibilities include formulation, pilot plant testing, scale-up support, sensory/nutritional/label support and documentation of experiments. This position will support a wide range of project activities including new products, line extensions, and product improvements all pertaining to Cargill Kitchen Solutions and our customers.

The successful candidate will have a passion for product development. This position requires great interpersonal skills and self-initiative. The position will require occasional travel.


70% Product/Formula development (experimental design) of value added egg products

10% Coordinate and prepare product evaluation(s) for senior leaders

10% Develop and maintain the nutritional database for our existing and new products

5% Coordinate and support product sensory panels

5% Interact with our customers during tours, product evaluations, and meetings.

This position shall have the responsibility to report problems with the food safety management system to identified person(s). This position has the responsibility and authority to initiate and record actions.

Acquire and maintain knowledge of HACCP/OPRP/PRP (GMP) policies and requirements to complete all monitoring and/or verification tasks as outlined in the Food Safety Management System and ensure that corrections, if needed, are taken per the Food Safety Management System




 Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field OR anticipate the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field by May 2015
• Background in scientific procedures and project management skills
• Basic data analysis and design of experiment knowledge
• Good oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Basic understanding of IP

Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years in R&D, Operations, or Quality food industry experience
• Sensory experience
