Farmhouse Culture is seeking a Food Technologist to
collaborate with and support our Innovation team in Watsonville, CA.

This position will carry out the technical aspects of a number of
innovation projects including existing and new lacto-fermented products.
Responsibilities will include small batch testing identification of
formulations, sensory evaluation, product specifications, and documentation
while meeting our cost, quality and innovation objectives for market
Essential Job Functions
- Collaborate with Innovation
team on new product development projects from ideation to
- Ability to operate independently
and effectively on multiple tasks.
- Maintain complete and
accurate product development project files.
- Coordinate pilot runs and
production trials with suppliers and co-packers in the development of
- Provide comprehensive pre-
and post-trial reports.
- Oversee new product
- Develop and maintain product
Additional Job Functions
- Work with QA to ensure
complete HAACP analysis of new products and ingredients.
- Work with QA to ensure
completion of co-packer QA manuals for all new products.
- Assist in the creation and
maintenance of SOPs for Innovation.
- Misc. Innovation projects.
- B.S. in Food Science or
equivalent degree and minimum three to five years
experience in a food processing environment with an emphasis on
new product development.
- Knowledge of food operations,
sensory evaluation, processing capabilities and experimental design.
- Working knowledge of food
based fermentation processes including lactic and acetic acid.
- Strong communication skills.
- Travel to manufacturing
facility and co-packers as needed.
- Attend trade shows and other
company functions as directed
- Ability to conduct basic
laboratory tests including measurement for pH, salinity, acidity
etc.., through titration and/or instrumentation.
- Ability to perform
statistical analysis on data sets to help refine product development
- Proficient with Excel and
- Proficient with Techwizard or other nutritional labeling program.
