  • Develop and maintain compliance with plant programs such as PCCP, SSOP, process control, and CN
  • Supervise staff of hourly quality personnel
  • Lead problem solving initiatives to address quality concerns
  • Serves as technical resource on cross-functional plant teams
  • Support tests, projects, and process improvement work
  • Investigate customer complaints and assist in product recall
  • Function as expert in plant computer programs and quality related systems
  • Investigate and resolve holds, customer complaints, and challenges to efficiency
  • Innovate to improve the effectiveness of quality system to better serve business
  • Serve as SQF practitioner in facility 


  • Ensure food and personnel safety
  • Monitor production conditions, specifications, process controls, and tracking controls
  • Develop and train quality auditors to monitor all quality functions.  Develop corrective actions; determine root cause and develop preventative actions
  • Record and analyze foreign material, complaint, and defect trends and problem solve
  • Understand and maintain compliance with weight programs, including CN weights
  • Develop and monitor finished product evaluations as determined by customer or in-house requirements
  • Provide cook temperature trend analysis to facility
  • Investigate and provide direction for resolution of holds
  • Monitor all quality-related procedures and create or update procedures
  • Write agenda and schedule weekly management meetings pertinent to areas of responsibility
  • Coordinate the timely completion of SQF requirements
  • Work closely with USDA in tactical situations
  • Work closely with Production, Customer Relations, Sales, and Warehousing to achieve goals for quality, productivity, and yields
  • Maintain awareness of advances in state of industry through professional orgs
  • Champion improvement projects and complete special assignments
  • Effectively utilize the resources of department. Monitor the hours of direct reports. Conduct ongoing review of budgeted line items
  • Develop direct reports for positions of increased responsibility
  • Conduct quality plan reassessments and SQF validations


  • Daily feed back to leadership team concerning projects
  • Coordinate facility corrective actions with appropriate team members
  • Respond to foreign material, defect, and CCP concerns immediately
  • Conduct HACCP record review and pre-shipment
  • Review holds, investigate, and provide dispositions
  • Other daily functions as assigned
  • Report on held product
  • Review trending of quality incidents (QIs) and associated preventative measures
  • Conduct shift meetings and project-related meetings with site and company leadership
  • Participate in SQF steering team
  • Perform, assign, or validate SQF-related tasks on schedule
  • Report on held product and defect trends


  • Self-motivated and work well without close supervision
  • Capable of making sound judgments and decisions frequently
  • Able to direct personnel and discipline fairly and consistently
  • Able to communicate effectively to all levels of management
  • Able to analyze situations and develop action plans with necessary follow-through
  • Innovator 


  • Bachelorís degree in food or related science
  • 3-5 years in food safety or quality role with progressing responsibilities
  • HACCP and SQF certification
  • USDA and meat processing history strongly preferred
