Mars Chocolate North America is looking for a Quality Management Lead in Waco, TX.

 

The Quality Management Lead provides functional leadership to develop, implement, maintain and improve Quality and Food Safety Management programs across the manufacturing site to ensure that finished products are safe for human consumption and meet customer, consumer and regulatory requirements to achieve business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the implementation of Global Quality and Food Safety standards to ensure compliance with applicable statuary and regulatory food safety requirements
  • Manages internal audit program, Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA), Quality and Food Safety (Q&FS) change management process as it relates to new products, equipment or process
  • Manages third party Quality and Food Safety Management systems certification audits
  • Leads Q&FS continuous improvement projects within the site
  • Leads in combination with Quality and Food Safety Manager product related incident management process and provides recommendation on product disposition
  • Act as back up to the Quality and Food Safety Manager by coaching associates, provides product quality advisement
  • Responsible for reviewing Global standards, leading gap assessment to the standards and regulatory requirements, including Food Safety Defense Plan and continuous improvement of quality systems
  • Manages external audit programs and the internal quality audit function for the site through training associates, creating audit schedule and ensuring a robust and corrective and preventative action process
  • Collaborates with Q&FS Site team and supply partners to conduct the Q&FS management review at planned intervals to ensure suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the Q&FS management programs
  • Partners with supply, R&D and other key stakeholders to implement changes, new process or new products in a safe manner and implement product quality conformance system
  • Leads continuous improvement of Q&FS system and product quality and conformance to specification through analysis of data and evaluation of trends through use of statistical analysis
  • Provides technical expertise and conducts incident investigation and risk analysis as well as provides recommendations for appropriate resolution
  • Leads segment ‘community of practice’ in an area of demonstrated expertise such as: auditing, food safety, hold management/systems, statistical process control, etc.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success with Food safety risk, identification and management, Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and prerequisite controls
  • Experienced auditor in GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000 or ISO9000
  • Proven application of quality tools, food science, and statistics
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven leadership within a team 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change
  • Application of Good manufacturing practices (GMP), Good laboratory practices (GLP), food allergens, pest control, sanitation, and food safety regulations

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering or related technical field
  • 1 year of plant experience in a responsible position related to food safety or quality and food safety management system
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in leading/influencing others
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
  • Successful Completion of a drug and background screen

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering or related technical field
  • 2+ year of food plant experience in a responsible position related to food safety or quality and food safety management system
