Description:

Lancaster Foods is looking for a Food Safety Specialist to assist with the day to day operations in Quality Control and Quality Assurance. This position will spend the majority of their time on the production floor verifying quality checks, problem solving and auditing GMP compliance. Specific duties will include: sample collection for microbial testing, recording test results, maintaining documentation, selecting food samples for sensory evaluations and quality control and enforcing the food safety program, HACCP verification and GMP policy.

Duties:

  1. Responsible for overseeing various test results and maintaining associated documentation for each
  2. Chemical verification (Chlorine Dioxide, NatureSeal & Quat Sanitizers)
  3. Pre-operational inspection, Internal/site audits.
  4. Writing corrective actions and maintenance work orders as needed.
  5. Performing sensory evaluations, shelf life studies etc...
  6. Production (quality related) trouble shooting/problem solving    
  7. Supervise and provide training for Food Safety Technicians as needed
  8. Responsible for overseeing raw, in-process and finished product inspections 
  9. Responsible for product return inspections. 
  10. Verification and calibration of equipment such as thermometers, scales, colorimeters, AquaPulse probes, Refractometer   
  11. Responsible for HACCP verification
  12. Oversee and enforce: GLP’s, GDP’s, GMP’s & SOPs
  13. Adhere to SQF and GSFI standards
  14. Sample collection for microbial testing
  15. Compile risk assessments as needed
  16. Update, compile and verify: departmental forms, SOPs and HACCP
  17. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. College Degree in Microbiology, Food Sciences, or other applicable discipline
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age to work in warehouse.
  3. A minimum 1-3 years of quality control experience in food/produce/beverage industry.
  4. Must be detailed oriented and have excellent follow up skills.
  5. Strong computer skills to include but not limited to MS Office.
  6. Familiarity with SQF, HACCP, GMP’s, GDPs, GLPs, SOPs, and food regulations.
  7. Strong communication skills required. Bilingual [English/Spanish] desired but not required
  8. Must demonstrate proficiency to read and write English.
  9. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include holidays and weekends.
