Job Purpose/Overview

  • Responsible for the improvement of the raw material quality and guarantee with the buyers the quality of the raw materials delivered to our factories.
  • Manage supplier’s site audit of their Food Safety Management System and lead supplier’s continuous improvement as expected from them to support our growth
  • Guarantee the compliance to Mars quality standard and Royal Canin purchasing rules
  • Collaborate with other Mars Petcare SQA associates to close audit gaps and share findings

 

Key Responsibilities:

Participate to the selection of raw material suppliers:

  • Evaluate  supplier capability for continuous improvement and innovation
  • Evaluate the supplier raw material policy, tool capability and management ability to deliver a consistent product
  • Evaluation of critical step management
  • Manage samples analysis with the buyers and lab feed-back
  • Manage the audits (plant, organization, tools, traceability…) of each suppliers included in his portfolio following the Mars standards
  • Write audit reports,  propose corrective action plan and follow-up accordingly
  • Communication of our Quality , Food safety and Sustainability policies to suppliers
  • Lead continuous improvement within supplier organization
  • Survey and evaluate sanitary conditions and take preventive & corrective action accordingly

 

Monitor the quality of raws material delivered to RC factories :

  • Monitor the nutritional and food safety results of deliveries
  • Understand the methods and analytical tools used
  • Periodical quality and performance review for guarantying the food safety and the transfer of the R.C. improvement tools / R.C. needs
  • Put in place relevant quality focus at reception and follow up (mycotoxins)
  • Propose and agree with supplier relevant continuous improvement plan and follow the effectiveness of the corrective and preventive actions.
  • Periodic communication in place with key suppliers
  • Update the quarterly synthesis and the annual evaluation file and share it with the buyers

 

Guarantee the compliance with RC purchasing roles :

  • Pilot the raw Material Risk Assessment of  raw material in relation with the R&D, Central
  • Manage the creation and update of raw material specifications as required
  • Evaluate regulatory climate by monitoring and analyzing regulations (FDA,CFIA,…), guidelines and standards, assistance if required in FDA/USDA inspections
  • Assist in all LRQA and internal audits, respecting the MQM and RC Commercial 10 roles
  • Guarantee the knowledge management of the raw material quality and share this knowledge with the team

  • The Royal Canin North American factories
  • The NA plant management teams to facilitate the supply chain
  • The central formulation team and regional laboratory
  • The Royal Canin North America commercial team
  • The North America Q&FS team
  • The Royal Canin sustainability team

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or similar technical field
  • Need to satisfactorily completed during the first year an accredited Lead Auditor training course (or actively progressing towards this certification if a SQA auditor) to enable IRCA/RABQSA/or equivalent certification
  • Knowledge of food safety and raw materials requirements
  • Knowledge of methods of analysis for raw materials, familiarity with respective laboratory equipment.
  • Experience of monitoring projects at supplier sites
  • Well-organized, disciplined, attentive to detail
  • Persistent to achieve development goals, problem solving
  • Good common sense, decision quality
  • Influencing, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Free to travel in and outside of USA up to 50% of his time.
  • English: read, written, spoken. French would be an advantage.
