Director of Food Safety – Fresh Produce Company – West Coast
Our client, a fast growing grower-packer-shipper-distributor of fresh produce on the west coast is searching for an experienced Director of Food Safety to join their team in this newly created leadership role. This role is all about leading a fantastic team of individuals and making it even better.
Responsibilities & Duties:
The Director of Food Safety will direct and lead all aspects of the Food Safety & Regulatory Programs for the company, including:
This individual will have in depth, up to date knowledge of FSMA, Third Party GFSI auditing and understanding of food processing, microbiology, sanitation, HACCP, GMP, and GFSI Standards in general. He/she will have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing safety in a food production companies and/or food safety auditing experience.
Personal qualities will include strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills, proven interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. Bilingual, English/Spanish fluency would be a plus.
While hands-on-experience is a priority, a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field is required. This individual will be certified in HACCP and Advanced HACCP, Internal Auditing, Third Party GFSI audit Standards, Food Security and Defense.
