Assess and determine the compliance of inspection reports and client applications against standards, issue reports and recommendations, and interpret data and make determination for certification.

***This is a remote (home-based) position with up to 25% regional travel required.***

  • Complete established application and post-inspection review forms to draft non-compliances based on internal and external standards and NSF policies in accordance with training and documented guidelines to ensure certified and or verified clients ongoing compliance.
  • Assure that customer application, compliance plans and related inspection reports contain required descriptions, protocols, procedures, and records to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations and standards. 
  • Maintain record keeping systems in compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Serve as mentor/trainer and provide technical support for Certification Project Managers to improve technical understanding, competency, and application.
  • Contact clients to review findings and outstanding issues, and provide technical support by clarifying any technical and regulatory requirements and issues.
  • Make determinations for non-compliance points that require client corrective actions necessary to meet standards as applicable, based on review of client documentation and inspection reports to support ongoing certification
  • Create certificates, non-compliance letters, product summaries, and other certification documents as directed to allow compliant clients to proceed through the certification cycle or to identify egregious issues in need of adverse action via Quality.
  • Participate in technical team and other stakeholder meetings for the purposes of becoming a subject matter expert and/or influencing standards development.
  • Evaluate performance of inspectors and provide feedback to the administrative/inspection team and level 3 reviewer.
  • Provide and implement process improvements in the inspection and post audit review process.
  • Assist with development and/or updating SOPs and/or client forms to maintain efficient workflow for inspection and review department as needed.
  • Represent NSF at industry events such as trade shows, conferences and meetings.
  • Conduct audits/inspections, as assigned.
  • Support new business development efforts through program, quality system, and certification documentation development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelorís degree.
  • Three (3) years related work experience in food, agriculture, livestock, or organic industry.
  • Working knowledge and experience with third party claims standards and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical concepts.
  • Familiar with certification procedures being applied, knowledgeable regarding all applicable standards and regulations, familiar with food, livestock, processing, or handling procedures and methods.
  • Successful completion of IOIA inspector training program or equivalent training as determined by Business Unit Manager.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelorís degree in agriculture, food science, animal science or a related area of science.
  • IOIA accreditation and advanced inspector training.
  • Five (5) years of experience as an inspector or one to two years of experience with regulatory procedures, preferably in the food, or agriculture sector.
  • Knowledge of Non-GMO food or dietary supplement production or Non GMO certification.
  • Knowledge of consumer goods supply chain.
