Clif Bar & Company is looking for an INNOVATION & TECHNICAL MANAGER
to join our Food Safety & Integrity Team.

The Innovation & Technical Manager is a newly created position with the
purpose of developing and driving food safety and quality expectations into
the product innovation projects through the use of strong and broad technical
expertise. This role will support new innovation and continuous
improvement initiatives that are critical to the strategy and ongoing growth
of Clif Bar & Company.
- Supports new product and
process innovation through upstream food safety and quality expertise
and evaluation. May include a variety of tactical activities.
- Assesses ingredient, product,
and facility risks in innovation process. This will include
providing preliminary allergen, ingredient and facility reviews as
required, or getting appropriate team members involved.
- Identifies potential gaps in
CB&C suppliers’ or manufacturers’ readiness from FSI
perspective. Develops action plan and timeline for appropriate
solutions with Director of Technology & Innovation.
- With input and support from
FSI team, provides initial approvals of potential ingredient suppliers
and finished product manufacturing locations.
- Provides allergen and
ingredient reviews for innovation projects.
- In collaboration with FSI team
and other partners, ensures CB&C food safety and quality
expectations and objectives are being met throughout the innovation
- Develops programs, policies and
SOPs for innovation projects where needed; and document the associated

technical knowledge required, including demonstrated knowledge of
microbiology, allergens, HACCP/HARPC, toxicology, FSMA and other food
regulations with expertise in one or more food safety concentration.
- Working knowledge of food
manufacturing processes in multiple categories.
- Knowledge of food science,
product development, and quality assurance.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Technical writing skills.
- Strong comprehension of
technical briefs and reports.
- Strong technical proficiency in
risk assessments and gap analyses.
- Proficiency with SharePoint,
Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- A bachelor’s degree in food
science or equivalent experience is required.
- A master’s degree in food
science or equivalent experience is desired.
- At least 7 years’ experience in
a food safety environment and/or manufacturing is required.
