Manzana Products Co., a US subsidiary of an established, global, European food company (Eclor) is seeking a QA Manager for its Sebastopol manufacturing facility.  This site produces high quality organic and natural products for major retailers, the foodservice industry, and distributors/wholesalers worldwide. As demand for our products increases, we are expanding and diversifying production capability. We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to run our entire quality program. Reporting to the General Manager, this position will design and implement our quality policies and procedures to ensure that we consistently achieve the highest level of quality and food safety.

As Quality Assurance Manager, you will:

 

  • Design, develop and implement quality programs and procedures for the overall production activities of the plant.
  • Manage the plant’s internal auditing, environmental, product testing and hold / release programs and teams.
  • Participate in regulatory and outside audit inspections of the facility.
  • Conduct comprehensive, quantifiable internal audits.
  • Ensure company personnel are trained and current in QA requirements.
  • Work with suppliers/vendors to ensure their products and methods meet our standards.
  • Ensure company meets its own certification requirements (e.g., organics).
  • Maintain ingredient specification manuals and recipe manuals for all products.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and other regulatory, labeling and certification requirements.
  • Maintain corporate quality records and inspection documentation.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in food science/microbiology, environmental health, food safety or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in food manufacturing operations required.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Significant experience with quality programs in a comparable facility; IFS preferred.
  • Proven knowledge and certification in HACCP programs.
  • Knowledgeable in food microbiology and emerging pathogens is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the FDA, USDA, CA Department of Health Services and other regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of FSMA, GFSI, various audit schemes such as IFS, NSF, and Tesco.
  • Ability to relate well with and influence others.
  • Demonstrated computer and information technology skills.
