GENERAL DESCRIPTION:    The Quality Assurance Control Manager is responsible for all quality activities required for compliance to Aloe Vera of Americaís quality management system and compliance with applicable cGMP regulations.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

o    Lead the development and execution of all Quality Assurance programs and activities that ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including GMP and HACCP. The QA Control Manager will integrate quality assurance and quality control into all functions and people

o    Manage all documentation for all Food Safety and Quality programs

o    Perform hazard analysis on new products, processes, ingredients, and packaging

o    Enforce and continually improve GMP programs. Conduct GMP audits of the warehouse and facility

o    Recall and traceability coordinator for the facility

o    Daily oversight of GMP in the facility and Quality Assurance.

o    Identify and implement appropriate Quality Assurance/Control policies and procedures

o    Train Quality technicians to perform routine chemical tests, line inspections, environmental swabs, and other typical duties.

o    Administer the plantís environmental microbiological testing program as well as its finished good microbiological testing program

o    Respond to all customer complaints and implement corrective action

o    Ensure that all staff receives required cGMP, HACCP, Food Defense, Allergen and any other QA/Food Safety related trainings.

o    Coordinate delivery of COA documents to customers

o    Manage the plantís shelf life testing program

o    Manage the sample retention program

o    Work with research and development to write specifications for new products

o    Responsible for communication of quality and food safety standards to plant personnel through training, corrective actions, quality and food safety audits, production monitoring and product evaluations.

o    Lead cross-functional HACCP and Food Safety team.

o    Validate, verify and review quality management and food safety systems to assure adherence to the food cGMP regulations, product specifications, regulatory compliance and plant and corporate policies and procedures.

o    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to maintain cGMP compliance, improve product quality, production efficiency, and reduce finished product rejects/complaints.

o    Provide technical direction for compliance and continuous improvement of the quality management systems

o    Development and improvement of quality systems and procedures.

o    Monitor processes to assure GMP compliance and adherence to company SOPs.

o    Assists, as needed, with FDA or other regulatory inspections.

o    Assure compliance to company and industry standards

o    Oversee the Final Review of Batch Records and Release of Finished Product according to Current Standard Operating procedures and GMPs.

o    All other duties as assigned.

 
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
 

o    Detailed knowledge and track record of successful implementation of food manufacturing policies and procedures (cGMP)

o    Certification and training in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)

o    Proficient knowledge of HACCP and the proven ability to write HACCP plans

o    Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, suppliers, and customers

o    Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects concurrently

o    Possess excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills

o    Acts with high integrity and honesty in good times and bad

o    Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

o    Stand/remain upright for 3-4 hours at a time

o    Stand/remain upright for 3-4 hours at a time for up to 6 consecutive days

o    Sit up to 5 hours at a time

o    Use keyboard and computer.

o    Reach forward and overhead, kneel, twist, turn and bend.

o    Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

o    BS degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Process Engineering, or Advance degree in related field

o    HACCP Certification is required.

o    Minimum of 5-7 years QA food processing experience preferred: minimum 2 years management preferred

o    Experience in cGMP regulated industry with experience conducting GMP internal audits.

o    Proficiency using and servicing basic lab equipment

o    Proficiency with technology is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should be very proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook and be very comfortable with Windows-based computers in general.

o    Ability to speak, read and write both in the English & Spanish language is desirable.
