We are currently accepting applications for an
Associate Food Scientist . This position will be
based out of Corporate Office facility on the east side of Madison, WI,
ranked the “Best Place to Live 2015” by Livability.com.
JOB SUMMARY : An
Associate Food Scientist works directly with Food Scientists on the formula
development, production, and application of custom chocolate and
confectionery coatings. He or she will work in the research and development
laboratory, operating manufacturing and analytical equipment and developing
custom product samples for further customer application and testing. This
position works in a fast-paced, innovative environment while gaining
process and formulation experience on confectionery coatings and chocolate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the
following. Other duties may be assigned.
Participate in developing innovative new products and
processes for confectionery coatings and fillings.
Assist on formulating and manufacturing coatings in a
lab and pilot lab environment.
Procure technical documentation for new raw materials.
Develop technical and process specifications
Support research projects and new product initiatives.
Utilize laboratory scale manufacturing equipment
including refiners, mixers, depositing/shaping line.
Utilize analytical equipment for conducting quality
test for color, fineness and viscosity.
Utilize confectionary application equipment and
consumer baking equipment for testing product application.
Complete flavor work and color work for customized
Assist in setting up and conducting plant trials.
Complete sanitation on pilot lab equipment.
Travel to industry tradeshows, conferences, suppliers,
customers, and/or CQC facilities.
Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor, while
following all company, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
Maintain regular attendance at work.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
B.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering or related
Food science-related work experience is preferred.
Ability to provide superior customer service, where
flexibility to meet customer needs is essential.
Work in a lab and pilot lab environment.
Demonstrated multi-tasking skills and flexibility
working in a fast-paced environment.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint,
Outlook and Excel
