The Food Safety/Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for providing managerial leadership and direction in implementing policies and programs that support education, operations, and research that enhance the safety and quality of Kwik Trip, Inc.ís food supply chain and the delivery of safe, high quality food to all our guests.  Additional responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating product recalls and withdrawals
  • Ensures compliance with recall documentation and communication
  • Communicates information from appropriate departments and compiles recall template
  • Assist the Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance with annual vendor approval process
  • Assist with continual improvement of the Kwik Trip Inc. vendor approval and risk assessment process
  • Conduct visits based on the vendor risk assessment of food and food packaging vendors
  • Lead successful execution and day-to-day operations of the food safety and quality assurance programs in Ice Plant, Distribution Center, and Transportation
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on detailed plan of action to minimize food safety and quality risks in appropriate areas
  • Develop training material/presentations on Food Safety programs
  • Monitor and update progress of Kwik Trip Inc.ís auditing programs at the Ice Plant and Distribution Center

 

Qualifications: 

  • 4-year degree in Food Science or a related field; or minimum 5 yearsí experience in the food or safety position  
  • Valid driverís license with a clean driving record
  • Interest in food protection and public health
  • Knowledge of governing authority and recall procedures
  • Understanding of the federal food code and appropriate state food codes
  • Experience in training new co-workers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Project Management
  • Budgeting experience
  • Knowledge of best practices
  • Team-player
  • Process improvement experience is a plus

Work Schedule:  Typically Monday through Friday, daytime hours; however, it may include occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.  Occasional travel will also be necessary.
