Job Description

Business Strategy, Policies and Tools

o     Develop overall compliance strategy and drive execution of its implementation to support financial, customer and quality goals

o     Interface with regional leadership to support the timely and qualitative execution of the business strategy

o     Ensure the implementation of corporate initiatives in compliance with corporate policies and processes

o     Develop and monitor performance metrics and review mechanisms to drive improvement, protect revenue and maintain compliance

o     Work strategically with other departments to ensure projects are compliant with customer and regulatory requirements

o     Represent the LSG NAM region for Quality, Food Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Retail, Environmental, Sanitation and Security

o     Oversee and maintain certification, training and process improvement initiatives in the region

o     Drive DFC through implementation of methodology for problem solving and solidifying the mentality of continuous process improvement and root cause elimination.

o     Develop Quality Board to organize and drive the quality strategy in NAM. Regular meetings, steering team, people sessions and site reviews

o     Develop Competence Centres around core compliance disciplines

o     Foster mind-set and behaviour changes to support company goals

o     In conjunction with Operational Transformation and Improvement, define and develop the regional logistics strategy for small , medium and large CSCs

Quality and Compliance

o     Oversee and maintain all Quality and Compliance programs( HACCP, OQMS, Tour of Duty, International Trash, Sanitation SOPs, Security Audits and Environmental Policy)

o     Provide technical expertise on all aspects of food safety, quality, microbiology and regulatory compliance

o     Form a diverse department with expertise in areas of oversight, process improvement and quality management systems to sustain a high performing region

o     Maintain training and certification programs to ensure the level of the people supports minimum requirements as well as the goals of the region

o     Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance to regulations

o     Design preventative systems to ensure compliance is monitored and assured

o     Develop training programs for all levels to ensure basic standards and company requirements are part of basic practice

o     Interface with LPS to drive build in quality in all departments

o     Develop plan for OQMS implementations and drive performance in existing OQMS locations. Provide regular coaching and support to all locations.

o     Work with all departments to ensure understanding and develop processes to drive compliance with HACCP and other compliance functions


o     Develop robust customer KPIs tracking and analysis programs

o     Ensure customer metrics and performance are understood communicated to all levels

o     Develop a department for cost avoidance in conjunction with customer contracts

o     Work closely with customer sales teams to address customer issues and develop programs and strategies ahead of time to ensure key customer requirements and met and sustained

o     Provide technical expertise in contract review periods and insight to compliance

o     Develop quality teams with expertise in specific customers to provide added oversight and proactive coaching to CSCs with specific customers

o     Develop relationships with customers through business review meetings, onsite reviews, proactive communication and cooperation.


o     Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed

o     Guide, motivate and develop the subordinate employees within the Human Resources Policy

o     Participates in coaching the expanded Global Performance System (GPS) process, as well as additional career development activities to enhance the effectiveness and potential of the team

o     Make the company's values and management principles live in the department(s)

o     Plan / Implement and control the cost budget in the area of responsibility; initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviation

o     Plan, implement and control the cost and project budget in the area of responsibility; initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations

Required Skills

·     Expert knowledge of HACCP, Microbiological testing and Process Improvement

·     Expert knowledge of LSG GQS and CAQS systems

·     Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

·     Excellent computer skills (word, excel, power point)

·     Ability to build, develop, and maintain strong cross-functional teams, employee relations and union relations

·     Proven track record implementing training programs, quality systems, testing protocols and audit schemes

·     Demonstrated ability to provide innovative leadership in the issues related to key operating disciplines

·     Capable of exercising forceful yet sensible cross-functional leadership, willing to make tough/unpopular decisions and “hold their own” with other functions, high tolerance for ambiguity

·     Demonstrate ability to develop relationships with customer and regulatory bodies to foster improvement and compliance

Required Experience

·     Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Food Science or related, Masters preferred

·     Minimum ten years experience in a food manufacturing based environment managing quality and food safety

·     Five years of multi unit management skills (oversight, process implementation, auditing and compliance)
