The QA Shelf Life Technologist will enter data and review samples provided by the QA Technicians and management, as well as, analyze the data and report findings to QA Management staff. QA Shelf Life Technologist will conduct periodic inspections on quality and condition of raw product, product in the wash/packaging process and finished goods to verify process improvements as it pertains to consumer/customer complaints. Will develop and measure the impact of the deviation process to shelf life standards, and determine optimal freshness rules. Will document information on the computer into various databases, generate reports, and recommend changes to management staff to improve product quality based on statistical evaluations.


 Review and Report information on retains collected by Quality Assurance during production.

  Document daily, tracking and trending data, generated by the Shelf Life on the computer in various databases and generate a variety of daily, weekly and monthly reports based on statistical computations.

  Will measure the impact of deviations to the set standard to determine optimal freshness and report findings to QA management staff.

  Perform product identification and traceability activities in support of shelf life and/ or complaints when requested.

  Complete projects assigned by management staff, that support the inspections of incoming raw product, product in the wash and packaging process and finished goods inventory.Projects may include but are not limited to optimization testing of current standards to create efficiencies in the production of the product.Projects assigned will support the technical advancement of the company.

  Troubleshoot quality by analyzing data and samples provided by QA Technicians.Communicate results to QA Operations management staff and help resolve the issues.

  Can instruct Supervisors and aide them in instructing QA Technicians on new optimization standards set as a result of the data analysis to achieve efficiencies and effectiveness in quality assurance techniques and insure tolerances fall within the newly established standards.


None, however this position will work closely with Supervisor in directing the work of QA hourly personnel.

  A.S. degree in Agriculture or similar field with studies that include science and statistical analysis or equivalent in education and experience. A four year degree in Food Science or Agriculture is preferred.

  Three (3) years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and/or certification and work experience.

  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Knowledge of NAV system is a plus.

  Must be skilled in the use and the application of the “use by” and Julian dates for product labeling. LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  Bi-lingual and bi-literate English/Spanish preferred.

  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.


  Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.


  Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.

  Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  Knowledge of company products, packaging, and freshness control program and quality standards and tolerances preferred.

  Able to work independently with little or no supervision. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  Food Safety Certificate highly desirable.
