Job Summary

The Associate Applications Technologist for Sweet Flavors will develop both standard and innovative sweet good prototypes to demonstrate Sensientís product line in support of existing and new business growth opportunities at targeted customers. Actively contribute ideas and physical assistance while further developing an expertise in the use of flavors and food ingredients. Can work independently and balance a multi-task workload. Effectively communicate the features and benefits of Sensientís product lines and assists in delivering presentations to customers, sales and internal management.

Responsibilities

  • Create food products to demonstrate Sensientís product lines and effectively communicate the status of projects to the Applications Manager.
  • Maintains accurate records of work. Able to organize projects and prepare reports including: project objectives, project progress, technical formulations, and customer data sheets
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and professional environment.
  • Work with a sense of urgency and be customer-oriented. Provide on-going communication with the Sales team to provide the customer with timely service to meet their objectives.
  • Required to accompany Account Representatives on customer calls to help educate customers on company strengths and capabilities.
  • Identify and focus resources on new technologies that will provide innovative solutions to customer issues.
  • Utilize the expertise of the Creative Flavorists and Sensory groups to develop/recommend flavor systems to meet or exceed project objective. As needed, identify and test products for stability and shelf life. Participate in scheduled sensory panels.
  • Utilize computer systems to insure that applications data is maintained in a timely and accurate fashion. Utilize the computer systemís capabilities for selection and screening of flavor/flavor enhancement systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in food science, chemistry or related technical area and a 1-3 yearsí experience in the food industry with a product development background in sweet dairy products, bakery, confections or other sweet goods/ frozen desserts.
  • Prior experience in flavor applications at a prominent flavor house would be beneficial, as is demonstrated understanding of flavors and food ingredients with expertise in key technical areas.
